just wondering, how do you all think the chances for ED compare for UPenn and Duke, assuming no obvious hooks (legacy, urm, nationally known athelete, etc)?

Upenn is generally harder to get into than duke

I think Duke is easier... check out their "official ED results" post.

I would say Penn and Duke are fairly even...

can anyone post the "official ed results" thread?

You can't really compare U Penn to Duke because U Penn has several schools. Wharton is harder, but I'd say the A&S colleges are probably about the same.

and you are coming from what geographical area??? public/private? lots of other factors play into this.

hazmat: do either Penn or Duke have a preferrance over certain students or something?

Penn likes students from Philly, Duke likes students from NC. Otherwise it's the typical "colleges like kids from South Dakota" thing

so you have looked up the data sets and profile for Penn and seen the distributions??? right???

yea im from az, ~2000 people in high school, and every year, my school sends about a dozen kids to top 10 schools. the specific school i was wondering about was A&S

bump........................

Here is the profile for the entering class of 2009 for Duke. You can probably find similar information for Penn. The geographic distribution is included toward the bottom of the page.

From what I have read on other threads, I think the ED acceptance rate for both schools for the class of 2010 was around 28%.

if you're applying to Upenn don't apply to Wharton apply to another uncommon major and don't switch to Wharton ; D

I read that admission office still consideres you an applicant for the U-Penn college even if you applied for Wharton.

You read wrong. You apply to Wharton and are considered in the context of other Wharton applicants.

anyone else?
