As a student admitted to both UPenn and Vanderbilt as a Cornelius Scholar (perks include a full tuition scholarship plus some research money) I'm having a difficult time choosing between the two. I'm leaning towards Vandy, financially it's a tough opportunity to turn down, but the opportunities at Penn just seem so surreal. I'm interested in a dual major in probably environmental engineering and economics, and so Wharton's prestige definitely is a plus at Penn. As for the life at both schools, I'm somewhat concerned with the Greek/Party scene that seems to dominate the Vanderbilt campus, but I'm sure I'd be happy at whatever school I end up choosing. So basically my question is, as a student interested in a career in the business field, is a Wharton degree really worth the money?

Probably not, not over Vanderbilt anyway. Vanderbilt is a top-ranked university as well - in the top 20 national universities. Assuming that you have to take on debt to attend Penn, I think it’s better to take the scholarship and special honors offerings at Vanderbilt.

UPENN is better school but Vanderbilt is still a top 25 national school in the US. If you are getting full tuition and special honors then Vanderbilt is a slam dunk. I would go to Vanderbilt.

I fail to see how Upenn is “better”. The rankings mean next to nothing especially when we are talking about two very high quality schools like these two. Unless there is something atrocious about Vanderbilt you can’t stand you should go there.

I’d really take that offer. Congratulations on being offered great aid.

tha rankings are meaningless here - they’re both superb schools. Go to Vanderbilt
and Congratulations on two great admissions and for the scholarship, it’s very impressive.
