Uploading the box online?

Confused, I uploaded an image (as a pdf) via commonapp. When I go the print preview, the image has its own septate page (and is very large). The box remains empty and the instructions state to upload the image into the box.

Help.

kind of urgent…

is it under 500kb?

I’m having a similar problem (I tried uploading it in a .doc). Is there any way to simply have the image resize to fit the appropriate box?

I think that’s the way it’s supposed to work; it would be too complicated to resize images to fit the box exactly. As long as the pictures attached to your application, you should be fine…

I was accepted ED. I uploaded my image in a .doc format. It made a separate page within my application and took up about half of the page. I think as long as the common app accepts the file you’ll be fine.

It is under 500kb.

Okay I’m still kind of concerned that it takes up an entire page (the original image is not that big). I will try uploading it as a doc.

Uploading it as a doc doesn’t seem to work either. I guess that’s the way it’s supposed to work? It would be too complicated for the common app to actually resize each pdf/doc file, taking into account whitespace, to fit it within the box.

What I don’t understand is why it’s not possible to upload a jpg or gif. Resizing that seems like it would be pretty simple.

Does the thing we upload have to be our original work, or can it be copyrighted?

I’m not saying uploading a picture of the mona lisa and writing by alex, but just something off of google?

alex thats fine

as long as it appeals to you, you’re okay. Stop worrying so much :)

Haha, I just submitted mine - an XKCD comic :D

:D that’s a good idea. I mailed mine in already, I drew a sea slug in the box…

If you submitted online, doesn’t it just show up as another page entirely, rather than something actually in the box?

@heinochus Yes

So we’re supposed to just leave it like that? No finagling it into the box somehow?

All right, then.

Do we have to worry about copyright or anything?

^no, you don’t.
