I have a pretty low GPA (3.95 weighted) but I have a upward trend from 10th grade. My sophomore year was 3.5, junior year was 4.1, and senior year will probably be around 4.5. Will colleges take that into consideration even with a low gpa?
Yes
How much will it help?
How long is a piece of string? Who can say? Figure out your GPA and compare it with data provided in target school’s “common data sets” (google for these). In section C, the schools list GPA and test score ranges for admitted students. With that, you’ll get an glimmer of your relative chances at schools. Also try the Super Match tool on the left panel of this page.
it’s definitely helpful that you have an upward trend. they would definitely take that into consideration even though you have a seemingly “low” gpa.
