Does anyone have any suggestions for an urban college with a set campus (i.e. not NYU)? I’m looking for something preferably on the east coast, in a pretty big city, and a top school academically
Top school can be a bit subjective but some places come to mind.
In Philly: UPenn, Temple, Drexel.
In Boston: Northeastern, BC, Tufts (last 2 are in urban suburbs)…and Harvard of course.
In Montreal: McGill
In Baltimore: Johns Hopkins
What are your stats???
DC: Georgetown
What major(s) are you interested in?
If you can range further afield than just the east coast, you might want to consider WashU and Rice.
WashU, with its well integrated collegiate Gothic architecture, is a bit more suburban in its location, but it isn’t too far from downtown St. Louis.
Rice has a beautiful, self-contained campus located near the heart of one of the largest cities in the US. Moreover, despite the popular reputation of Texas as cowboy country, Houston is also one of the most diverse, multi-cultural cities in the country. As the heart of the global energy industry, a key port, and a major hub of medical research and aerospace (NASA), Houston boasts a cosmopolitan dimension that adds to its quality of life–and that opens many doors to Rice students.
Stats and budget would be helpful.
Not quite east coast, but Pitt has a beautiful urban campus.
medical, like I’m thinking nursing
SAT 1550
ACT 34
GPA 4.4
VCU, with good medical programs, located in Richmond, might be worth a look. It is a really fun city, artsy vibe, lots of good restaurants, parks, museums, historical sites, outdoor recreation.
Pitt fits all of your criteria–urban, strong nursing program, hospitals on and around campus. You would likely get some merit $$ at Pitt also if your UW GPA is strong and your rank is strong. Apply early!
