I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this program. D, who is not outdoorsy, was iffy about it at first, but, much to my delight, she’s decided to venture outside of her comfort zone and has put her name in for a couple of the less demanding expeditions. Any input about what to expect and how we should handle move-in if she gets selected would be appreciated!
My kid went, l-o-v-e-d it and we learned that anything you can do to move in early is fantastic. We showed up, pulled right up to the door, were swarmed by help, parked in the lot next to the dorm, etc. because they only have a relative handful moving in then. URFoot comes in after most athletes, btw, so there are kids in the dorms but not many. We came back after a trip to Toronto and it was regular move in day and that, while it appeared to be going smoothly, involved many more people.
Ditto what Lergnom wrote for my son. Enjoyed the actual URFoot experience, but more than that loved that he met an upperclassman who after the trip introduced him to other upperclassmen and gave him a running start on the UR social scene. And I believe my son ended up taking a young lady he met on the trip to a fraternity formal / semi-formal / something like that. And I had forgotten about the early move-in: a huge bonus (son lived in Hoeing, which was also great). Good choice by your daughter!
