Hey, I was just doing one of the FRQs and noticed something when dealing with the volumes created by rotating solids.

whenever axis of revolution is a vertical one, I just use shell, much easier. however, in the scoring rubric, i see they only use disk method.

do i have to use disk if i wanna get credit for the work? i mean, cmoooon

You can use either method, although the washer method is the most common.

The shell method is not techniquelly apart of the Calc BC material anymore, so the method would not have been used in the scoring guide. Despite this, it is still acceptable to use the shell method if you want. My teacher has addressed this issue many times, so I hope this helps! Good luck tomorrow! :)
