Urgent! Did I hurt my college chances with a bad email?

Last year, I sent an email to my regional admissions counselor for one of my schools that tracks demonstrated interest. In addition to asking her about music opportunities at their school, I asked “I’m interested in obtaining a merit scholarship. What scholarship opportunities does your school offer?” Since I asked this question, are my admission chances hurt?

Why would your chances be hurt because you asked about merit scholarships? It seems like a pretty standard thing to ask about since students need to know how to finance their education.

I’m worried because I said “I’m interested in obtaining a merit scholarship.” I didn’t want to give a tone that I am only applying to the school for the money

I don’t see any problem here at all. Good luck with your applications.

You are overthinking. When I first read your “email”, nothing struck me as out of line. Good Luck- Breathe!
