I am caught in a last-minute situation deciding between these two schools. SMU gave me some great aid which brings my debt down to $8k each year and I would have no debt at ASU…not too worried about that part. But overall, which do you think would be best for me as someone who is interested in both business and political science. Here are the details…help is much appreciated.
-Visited both schools and loved the campuses…not too much of a factor for me at this point.
-ASU: Barrett Honors College as a BS Finance major in WP Carey. I plan on adding either a BS economics major or a “Global Politics” or “Public Policy” concentration BA major.
-SMU: Would be a BBA student with a focus in Finance and a minor in Political Science.
-Want to get involved in the school, but am a very focused student.
-Looking to attend a graduate business program or law school in the future. ASU’s “Project Excellence” seems attractive.
-There is Investment Banking Industry Scholars at ASU and an almost identical program at SMU.
-I’ve noticed SMU has a lot more general requirement type course, not that it is a bad thing.
-ASU’s reputation is questionable sometimes
-Plan to return to CA to work in the future. Very interested in the investment banking and fields related to politics.
-Must graduate within 4 years, no option to push it off longer
Let me know what you think, any personal stories? I hear great things about both schools in the scope of business, but what’s really true? I am deciding tomorrow morning–yes there is a special, unique reason I am still deciding and both schools are aware.
