Long story short:
UC applications are due in two days.
I submitted a request for an unofficial transcript from my old private 4-year university (from 6-7 years ago) weeks and weeks ago. As I filled out my application last night with grades from my current CC (IGETC) that I've been at for 2 years, I realized I never got my other one. I wrote in my personal statements and the question about other comments that I've been to another school - that I did poorly because of extreme personal problems but now have a 4.0 at my new school. I sent in a new request for an official transcript to be sent to my UCs.
Side note:
I have also recently applied to my old school for expungement of records/academic renewal so that my record can be wiped.
The problem:
Is it okay to leave the school grades/classes (I honestly cannot remember them at all) off the application as long as I mentioned them in my personal statements and sent a formal transcript? I'm worried sick and since it's so close to the deadline I can't get anyone that knows the answer on the phone or get a reply via email. Please help me.

You must enter every single grade on the transcript, no exceptions.

I’m trippin out too.

I am applying for Fall 2014, but I went to a Cal State last year and I did very poorly.

Now I have a 3.8 gpa.

Will my previous gpa and my community college GPA merge?? Cause if then I am screwed.

TonyStark93: Yes, if the courses are UC-transferable, they will use it in the GPA calculation.

What if non of the classes i took at CSU are UC tranaferrable then what??

On my community college unofficial transcript i dont have a gpa its just 0.0

Is this why???

I don’t think they merge your GPA but they do look at both. They keep them separate but do want to see transcripts from all of the schools you attended. That doesn’t mean they will hurt you or lower your chances. If you didn’t do too well and now you have a high GPA that looks good and may even help your chances.

The reason your GPA at your CC says 0.0 is probably because the semester hasn’t ended which means no grades have been submitted. Your GPA from a CSU likely doesn’t carry over to a CC. Just like when you transfer to a UC your GPA starts over and is not carried over from your CC.

Yes, ALL UC transferable classes will be used to determine your GPA. They do not look at separate GPAs, just one.

I did horrible my first year at CSU because of family problems home sickness dad getting a stroke etc…

My counselor said none of the classes from CSU transffered to my CC

Im really scared itll merge with mu CC GPA which is pretty good

^Do you remember some of the courses you took? If you list the title I can probably give you an idea if they’re transferable or not. What your CC counselor probably meant is that you didn’t receive any pre-req credit at your CC for those courses, likely because you didn’t do very well. If you tried to take any major requirements or general requirement courses like math or english at your CSU then chances are some of them are probably UC transferable and will get factored into cumulative UC transferable GPA (which includes CC and four years) that they use for admission decisions.

it will merge. it doesn’t matter if they don’t transfer to a CCC, they could still transfer to the UC.

^Shannon13 are you sure they merge? If they do I’m screwed.

my CSU courses were the following:

APCG 110 Computer Assisted Art 1
ENGLISH 130P Academic Writing
HUMN 224 Arts and Ideas: Asia
Math 051 Remedial
Math 011 Remedial
CMST 131 Speech Com Fundementals
Philosophy 102 Logic And Critical Thinking

Counselor said none of these are UC transferable.

And from my 0.0 GPA looks like none of these transferred over.

Someone pls help me out with this

Philosophy 102 should definitely be transferable, I think the English class will count as well.

Yes I am sure they merge. Most likely your English, philosophy, communications, and Asian art class will be transferable. The computer art is possibly also transferable.

Meet with a UC rep to find out which ones are.

So should I just drop out of CC then…

I am screwed.

These classes will ruin my current GPA.

The UC campuses look at more than GPA. They also look at grade trends, activities done outside of school, personal statements, and other factors. The grades you get during the two years you are at CC are more important than the grades you got at a CSU.

Dude stop being so dramatic. List all of your classes when it asks, explain when you can and see what happens. No reason to give up on life just because you didn’t do well a little while back.

I have a lot of extra carricular activities and stuff.

I am just really worried because of my CSU grades…

well instead of freaking out on here about it and asking everyone the same question, why don’t you be proactive? you could:

inquire at your csu about academic renewal or retroactive withdrawal

contact all of the UCs you are applying to and ask which classes are UC transferable

look into retaking those classes at your local CSU through summer session or concurrent enrollment

look into retaking those classes at your local CCC. I know for a fact that the majority of CCCs will offer a general english writing class and a general intro to public speaking class, and a good portion of them will offer a logic/critical thinking class.

Even with several F’s, if you do well enough in CC you should be able to bring your GPA above a 3.2, which would get you into some UCs. I have to imagine your Philosophy and English class will definitely count in your GPA. Mostly likely speech and possibly your Humanities class. Don’t be discouraged though. Take this as a wake up call to get serious about your education and never leave a class thinking you could’ve tried harder .

If there’s anyway to go back and petition for academic renewal or retake some of those classes you should do that. If not show a strong upward trend and write about it in your PS.

Okay so who should I talk to, to make sure 100% whether or not these classes are UC transferrable??

And if all these classes of mine are transferrable why did my counselor say its not??

Why did I not get credit or grades for them especially when I had the transcript sent over to my CC??

Plus I heard there are a lot of differences so CSU classes most of the time dont transfer over to UCs.

Last question is if some of these classes ARE transferrable to UCs and some aren’t transferrable, will they merge the classes that are transferrable into my CC GPA and leave the ones that don’t out or what??

I got some ppl telling me they dont transfer, and some r telling me they do. Im so confused…
