So i just realized that i could get a good recommendation from a grad student in a lab i worked in over the summer.

However, the ED deadline is tomorrow. If i got the grad student to write it and submit it within a week, would i be fine?

And if so how would this work with the commonapp? Could i still add a supplement after my application is submitted, or would i have to send it directly to the college?

I’ve heard that most college ED deadlines are only strict for the parts that YOU yourself have to send in. They tend to give more leeway to teachers/counselors who are sending recommendations and stuff. That’s what I’ve heard from most of my teachers/counselor, in any case. So sending it within the week should be fine? Worst case is that they don’t read it and you have a rec you can use later if you apply to other places.

Not sure how it would work on the Common App, but I think the college will definitely have information for how to submit the info to an email address.

There is no way to get an outside recommendation added to the common ap. They only allow recs from teachers & counselor at your school.

Any outside recs have to be either mailed or fax’d to the college admissions dept. You could just have the person mail it in, or you could call the college and ask if it could be fax’d to them.

Good luck!

Mail it straight to them!
