Hey everyone, I wanted to hear some solid opinions regarding these two schools. I got accepted to both, and I'm completely torn. Here's where I'm coming from:

I live extremely close to the University of Michigan. I Love It! Everything, except that it is sooo close to home. My parents even work there. I feel like this could really affect my college experience because I really want the chance to live on my own. I need change, and going to UofM would make that impossible.
Bard is a good school, I like it, but I applied blindly, thinking I wouldn't get in. Well I got in, and I still don't know very much about it, but I excel in writing and humanities, which are what I've heard to be Bard's specialties.
I would be extremely appreciative if someone had insight on these schools. On social life, academics, campus, prestige, things like that would be great.

Wow. These are two completely different schools. UMich is a big, prestigious state school. Bard is a small, REALLY quirky LAC that is good but no where near as well known to the general populace.

I don't know much about UMich, but when it come to Bard, some things to keep in mind: it's a small community (really unlike UMich). And, from what friends there tell me, it's a reather homogenous community in terms of type: lots of counter-cultural pot smokers (yes, I'msure this isn't true across the board, but from the accounts of the people I know there, it is accurate overall). What do you love about UMich? Because I relaly wouldn't think of a UMich type person as someone who would also greatly enjoy Bard (though perhaps it is possible).

I really liked Bard when I went there. There is a misconception that everyone is weird. After I hung out with the Rugby team, I learned that is not at all true. If you want alot of academic freedom, go to Bard.

actually im looking at mich and bard too (well i havnt visited mich yet)
reason is i rly like education at LAC's generally, but im interested in art and michs art&design program is supposivly amazingg. hah im actually the opposite of frths07 cuz im in the hudson valley in westchester and im thinking Bards too close to home! haha

honestly, frths07, think of what school is gonna offer you the most achedemically. (wow sorry about that spelling) do u know kinda what ud want to major in?
