So I saw on URIs website that their average gpa for accepted engineering students was a 3.73. My gpa is a 3.3 (a lot lower than average I know) and I have a 1400 on the SAT. What are my chances of admission to their Chemical Engineering program? Also I live in PA, if that makes a difference
I feel like you will certainly get into the program because I was accepted as a mechanical engineering major with a 3.1 GPA and a 1170 SAT score last year. I’m not sure if I’m an outlier or if they put incorrect information on their website, but even if they didn’t, you probably still have a good chance of getting in. Good luck!
For anyone who’s interested, I was accepted for chemical engineering!
S was accepted into Civil Engineering. 3.75 UW 1260 SAT. RI resident.
Did her portal say accepted or accepted into Civil Engineering? Just trying to make sense! Thanks
@2022Engineering my portal just says accepted- I think they would have deferred me first rather than just admit me to the engineering school if they didn’t think I was a good fit for engineering, so most likely I’m in for my major, but ill see once they send the acceptance letter in the mail.
Ok thank you mine was the same. Just general acceptance with letter to follow
The portal says accepted with the major that he applied to above the accepted notice. Based on my experience-if you are deferred, etc… to the major that you applied to, it would state further instructions and not say accepted. But I do agree, the acceptance notice is vague. Congrats to all that have been accepted to the engineering school!
Accepted
Son is OOS Industrial and Systems Engineering, 3.92 UWGPA, 4.40 WGPA, 1540 SAT, 34 ACT, 9 APs, National Merit Semi-finalist (Finalist pending).
@GaelRacer With those kind of stats, your son should be able to get into better schools. Why URI?
@knn9413 My son has been accepted at several engineering schools. What attracted him to URI is the International Engineering program (IEP). There are only a handful of schools with similar programs and a couple of them had URI design the program for them. URI’s IEP program is considered the top in the nation. My son was an exchange student in Germany and he wants to study and work in Germany. He is interested in majoring in Industrial Engineering and German in the IEP.
@GaelRacer They started the International engineering program at URI back in the dark ages when I went there. It is has just grown from strength to strength and we know many successful; engineers who were in the German IEP. My son is doing Japanese and CE. The new 100 million dollar engineering building ready in a year and a half will be amazing.
