i am planning to apply to URI 0-6 pharm school next year
and wondering.. how is this school?
anyone goes to URI??
how competitive is it as years go on..
cause from what i heard... certain percent of people get sort of kicked out
each year... thanks in advance for replies =)

i know you may not check this-

but im applying to URI for the pharmacy program as well.

what other schools are you looking at, and what is your top school?

i dont know anything about URI, im hoping to take a campus tour soon, but only after i hear a decision from my first choice school

my nephew is looking at rhode island for engineering. anyone know anything about the program? any current students out there?

i got in with a $48,000 scholarship but have no idea how it is? it was a safety.

linkinpark14, when did you find out? Did you find it by checking your app status or did they send you something?
hybriddaisy and kerri123- did you hear anything yet?
My son also applied pharmacy and we have not heard anything yet.
We also know little about the school and I am surprised there is not much on this site about it.

while not known for being an academic powerhouse, the pharmacy program is extremely well-regarded, especially in new england. its quite competitive, and the job placement is excellent. most students that i know who went to uri loved it.

I am also interested in any feedback for this school. My son received a full-tuition scholarship for their engineering program. We haven't visited yet, I believe there will be a specific day in the spring for those receiving the centennial scholarships.

Anyone know about the engineering program -- specifically chemical engineering?

As always, any information is really appreciated.

peteypie, how were you notified of your son's acceptance? My son's application went in at the last minute and they said we would know by the end of the month. I would like to know if they mail, email or do you just check the application status account?

I do know that the engineering program is one of the better programs at URI and is noted in by Fiske as one of the best public univ engineering programs along with schools like Purdue, Michigan, Penn State etc.

pharmmom, My son applied back in mid-October. He was quite surprised to receive his acceptance and scholarship letter by early December. He received the letter through the mail.

Thanks for the info on the engineering program. Someone I work with suggested this school for engineering, and we just kind of threw it into the mix at the last minute. We were quite surprised (and happy) when he got this very generous scholarship.

My son is a junior and I was just online looking at the Univ of Rhode Island's pharm program. Question, the students that are applying to the pharm program there, what other pharm programs are you also applying to? Have you got in any? It seems there aren't too many 6 yr pharm programs offered.

lowermorelandmom- My son applied to several pharm schools-some 0-6, some not. It has become a VERY competitve program. He was accepted to Northeastern with a merit scholarship and when we called with a question we were told it is now their most competitive program. 730m 680v all honors/ap and he was not offered honors college. He also was accepted to Duquesne, with merit and offered honors. They, however have changed the program to a 2+4(apply to pharm program after 2nd yr) I was unhappy as we were informed of the change in his acceptance letter! We are waiting to hear from URI, it seems like a nice program, but we did not find out about it until the last minute so I hope it is not filled as the program can only accomodate something like 95 students. In March he will hear from Albany College of Pharmacy. My suggestion is to apply to several schools as I learned with Duquesne- things can change at the last minute!

I only applied to universities that offered the 0-6 PharmD Program because in case I changed my mind in the middle of the program, I figured I could have an easier chance switching majors than of switching schools.

Univ of the Pacific - haven't heard yet, scholarship semifinalist, though
Northeastern - Accepted, Honors, 10k/yr
Duquesne - Accepted, Honors, 9k/yr
URI - Accepted, Honors, full tuition
St. John's Univ - haven't heard yet

Because of financial need, I am really leaning towards URI right now. However, my parents are a bit worried about my going all the way across the country. I was wondering if there were any students who could talk about what it's like living in Rhode Island. I'm Asian and my mom has this idea stuck in her head that because I'm not white, I'll have a hard time fitting in over there.

How easy would it be to get a job outside of school? I mean, if I don't get into a work-study program, I figured I'd need to find a job somewhere else.

Anyone have any ideas?
