Common apps up next… (exhale). I can tell how proud he is. It’s a good feeling.

Slymlady,
Congrats to your very talented son! And to you! :)

That’s wonderful news for the holidays!

Agreed–congrats!

Isn’t it nice to hear early? Congrats to your son!

If they are affordable (net of any financial aid or scholarships), then he now has two safeties.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!
And thank you so much for giving us news.
He must feel very proud, and he’s right to.
Plus, indeed, what a wonderful feeling: now, you KNOW he’s going to college.
And not only that: to a good, much sought-after college. No matter what happens, this in itself is a great victory.
:)

Cal Poly Pomona just came. Accepted for mechanical engineering. This is all pretty amazing.

Thanks so much for your support everyone.

Congratulations to your son! He’s got great options

It will indeed be happy holidays at Slymfamily! Congrats, and enjoy.

PS My brother is an engineering grad from Cal Poly Pomona. Never had trouble finding work :)

Congrats!! Cal Poly Pomona for Engineering is AWESOME!

Congratulations! Start planning your campus visits! He’s got some great choices!

Congratulations. Be sure to keep up posted and come back when it is time to make a decisions. We can help with grad rates etc and any relevant info we may know about experiences at each college.

Be sure he looks at the National Association of Black Engineers. (I thought you were AA but I don’t want to go through the whole thread). There have some private scholarships. Congresswoman Lucy Roybal in your area has a student resource guide with scholarships for students from your area.

Don’t forget to apply for financial aid and have him keep him grades up. I know of some local California students who once they got into college got “D”'s in some classes and their acceptances were rescinded.

I know you son has a tough story to tell but look-he can now be a role model for other students at his high school.

So happy for you and good luck at the other schools.

Great news!

Congratulations to you and your son! I’m truly delighted to hear that all your hard work helping him overcome a bump in the road has payed off!

W00t! W00t!

Congratulations!

Yes, and a happy dance for your son and you!

CONGRATULATIONS–that’s a scream!
