CSU Application List

Hi,

Looking for a little advice for my daughter for her college list from the brain trust.

Her stats: 3.89 CSU/UC GPA according to my calculation; 3.93 according to CSUapply
SAT (new): 1340 (630 RW; 710 Math)
Eligibility index using 3.89 GPA: 4452

So far this is what she has:

Cal Poly SLO (reach)
SDSU (match): we’re in SD County, but outside of the SDSU preference area
CSULB (safety)

UC Davis (reach)
UCI (reach)
UCR (match)

Looking at the CSU picks, do you think the ones I listed as a match and safety are sufficient?

She’s looking at applying for Poli Sci/undeclared social science. She might stick with Poli Sci or switch to something else, so I think she would be better off at a bigger institution. I’m fine with her looking at NorCal, but she prefers to stay in SoCal. Given that, do you think we should add additional SoCal CSUs? If so, which ones?

CSULB would not be a safety but a Low Match since she is non-local.

With only 1 safety and 2 match schools on the list, I would add few more Match schools since admissions to all these schools gets more competitive each year and there are no definite guarantees.

How about CSU Fullerton, Cal Poly Pomona, Sac State (great location for a Political Science major) and San Jose State?

i agree, she should probably add another couple of CSUs. Sac and Sonoma are great candidates.
