URMs, Info please

My question is how does being a URM effect your chances of acceptance. I wondering if what I have heard is true, do URMs get an advantage in admissions and is it a significant advantage? I also question what URMs get more/less advantages, if any. For me, I am Canadian, with Metis status (partially native Canadian), is there any benefit to this. I know Harvard looks for diversity but is my situation applicable (I known it is fairly obscure).

My Second Question is, does geographical diversity a factor in admission. If so is Canada considered, in particular the west coast (like above Seattle).

I Know this doesn't change anything if I don't score well on SATs and SAT IIs and maintain amazing grades. But I just want to known if I can get any extra help in the admissions process regardless of how small.

Thanks

bump post ^^^^^^^^^^^

My gut feeling is that all international students are put in the same pool, and diversity is less of a consideration there. (i.e. everyone in that pool is a foreigner, and therefore adds some element of diversity to a US-centric student body).

Thanks, that makes sense. I hope the admissions will understand me well through my essays.
