hi, will being hispanic(an URM) help at all when applying to Harvard, or any ivy for that matter?

^Generally, being a minority does confer a significant advantage on an applicant during college admissions. However, Hispanics do not receive a benefit as great as that African-American applicants receive.

It won’t get you admitted, but it will help a decent bit. Think of it just as an extra “hook” that could help you based on the demographics and numbers they shoot for. They don’t really lower standards or anything for URMs, though, and it’s far from a sure ticket in.

as I understand, it is a plus similar in some respects to being a legacy applicant or a talented musician, etc… but it is one small part of their evaluation of your application. If the other elements are not excellent, it will not matter.
