URSA BAR Account

How long does it usually take for it to get to your bank if you've applied for Bruin Direct?

i keep hearing about this bruin direct, what is it?

Essentially, it's this service that automatically deposits your refunds into your bank account.

In my Financial Aid Award and Summary, it says my perkins loan was disbursed, the amount being 0.00; its supposed to be like 866. Is something wrong? I took that loan test on the 17th.

so i got the bruindirect email today saying they are depositing my private loan money.....but my stafford loan still hasnt been disbursed...wth

I got a bruindirect e-mail saying that my private money will be disbursed to my bank account within 3 business days.

I was wondering, what do you do with the money in your bruindirect account? Is it used to pay for housing, tuition, and books? And the leftover for food and other needs? I'm kind of lost as to what we actually pay with it and what the university already pays for financial-need students.

thank you.

The money from your BruinDirect goes straight into your bank account. It's what's left over after the tuition is paid.

A good portion of it will go to housing. Some of it will go to books and the rest is for personal needs and what-not throughout the quarter. I suggest spending it wisely, since it's probably loans and you'll have to pay it back eventually.

Thanks Kalasin.

Yeah my perkins and stafford loans still have to be disbursed...only our 1st quarter gets disbursed right? Not all 3 quarters yet?

Yup, only 1st quarter.

Check to see if your promissory note for the Stafford loan was processed. Call FAO.

i havent heard of bruindirect till just now...
i know im entitled to refunds on BAR but i dont have bruindirect yet...
am i screwed?

they should send you a check ? not sure, wait for an experienced response.

No, they'll just send you a check by mail.
It might take 2-3 business days longer.

But I would suggest signing up for it for the rest of your quarters here at UCLA.

for winter quarter ucla has already charged my bar account, but fin aid disbursement is not until jan 2. will i be charged an over due charge (i think the due date each month is the 20th) if i dont pay the fees by dec. 20th?

look at when the charges were posted. anything posted in NOVEMBER will be due december 20. anything posted in DECEMBER will be due january 20.
by "posted" i mean, something posted after the first of the month. if it says "balance as of dec 1: $200" then that means $200 was posted in november, so you need to pay it by dec 20. if it was posted december 3, it would be due january 20.
comprendre? ;)

Winter fees are due Dec 20th but you only have pay the "maximum credit card payment allowed" by then. Your financial aid will cover the rest on Jan 2 and you won't be charged a late fee.

thanks!10char

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand yet. On my BAR account it says "Balance as of 12/03/07" So that means it's due by January 20th? And that financial aid should take care of that, right? And what is the "Maximum Credit Card Payment Allowed?"

On a side note, Housing is due on January 1st, correct?

Thanks!

all that matters is what "balance as of 12/1" says. if it says $0, and there's later charges, they're due january 20. if 12/1 has a balance, it's due dec 20.

when you go to pay your balance, there will be something that says what your maximum credit card payment allowed is. you'll see it.

ah, housing... i'm not sure it's due jan 1. nothing's been posted on my account yet (i pay quarterly)... i can't remember when it's posted.

I get the date when my payment is due (December 20). And so financial aid is not disbursed until the 2 of January, which is weird.. I know for Fall quarter Financial aid took care of th tuition, and all I had to worry about was teh housing..

And I know where to find the Max Credit card amount.. but what is it? Do I still need to pay that amount even though I have financial aid?
