US citizen with foreign high school diploma with questions

Hey guys. I'm a US citizen but my family and I moved out of country and I finished my high school education in another country. Now I want to go back to the US for college however I have some questions and concerns.

First, I am wondering if my high school diploma is even valid in the US and whether or not the colleges there would accept me.

Second, am I eligible for student financial aid (like FAFSA and so on). Are there any particular scholarships do you guys recommend for me?

Third (kind of a stupid question), how do you think I should apply? Should I travel all the way to the US and see admissions face to face? Would I be considered an international student?

If there anything else you guys have to say to help out feel free to say it. Thanks in advance.
