<p>Hey, I am a sophomore, just finished Honors Chem with a decent score on the SAT IIs. Didn't take world history, too afraid because I didn't know much. </p>
<p>For outgoing SATers who took US History, which book(s) do you recommend, and I was wondering what kind of test prep strategies you used. </p>
<p>If you took physics as well, and could pitch in a little advice, that'd be lovely as well.</p>

<p>Well, it helps if you take the US History SAT after you have taken AP US History. Thus, what I am recommending to you is that you wait until you’re taking AP US History, then take the Subject Test either in May (around the same time as the AP exam) or in June, because you will have learned all the material already and it will [probably] still be fresh in your mind.</p>
<p>The books that are used to study for the APUSH exam (AMSCO and Crash Course) can also be used to study for the US History Subject Test. Both are sufficient enough for the exam (I’d say AMSCO is a little bit much though), but Crash Course easily takes the cake.</p>
<p>I agree w/ leadlol, if you’re taking the APUSH test, take the Sat II USH in may and you’ll be well prepared, don’t forget to take a few practice Sat II tests because the feel is a bit different from AP tests</p>

<p>I read my textbook throughout the year (American Pageant, it’s what most schools used) and just remembered what it said. 800.</p>
<p>Yeah, American Pageant provided me with most of the information, so thank you APUSH. However, since I took mine this June, I read AMSCO for quick review.</p>
<p>I only read the first few chapters of the American Pageant, but I recommend that you read as much as you can from it. My recommendation: AMSCO + Crash Course = 800. That’s what I used, and I received an 800.</p>
<p>It also helps if you have a good history teacher. Mine was excellent, and was very good at explaining things.</p>

<p>Agree with others, you should definitely take the U.S.H Sat II right as you’re finishing with APUSH. Honestly I did not do any outside preparation and it worked out for me (780), but you definitely need to at least take a practice test. I wish I would have.</p>
<p>Like some others have said, the subject test questions are very…different…from the AP mc, which tripped me up a little.</p>

<p>I took the June test and got an 800 after finishing an AP US course. I read a good bit (about 1/2) of the pageant last year, and trust me, the superfluous wording of the pageant will stick in your mind forever. It really helped me a lot. </p>
<p>But I attribute my score mostly to my amazing U.S teacher and his notes, which I sadly can’t give you.</p>
<p>In contrast to what others have said, I believe that the MC on the Subject Test weren’t really all that different from the AP MC. They had the same “feel” to them, in my opinion.</p>
<p>Only prep I did was taking 4 sparknotes us history tests the night before the exam, and reviewing all the answers. I got a 790</p>
<p>I also used Amsco and Crash Course and got an 800</p>
<p>Now let me preface this with the fact that I have a learning disability which makes it nearly impossible for me to learn history. It is by far my hardest subject. Nothing sticks in my brain.</p>
<p>I read Crash Course once before AP exams and then once 2 nights before the SAT. I got a 730 SAT. Now IMO that was an amazing score for me. Crash Course was a beast for that test.</p>
<p>I got an 800 on the test, and I didn’t use a test book. Just use your AP US notes to study.</p>
<p>Many, I included, suggest the AMSCO book. I was too lazy (it’s almost the end of school, why bother?) and I did not get any study books. I merely paid attention in class and pulled a 750. Of course that doesn’t parallel the multiple 800s here on CC, but for no studying, and taking it cold turkey, I’m extremely happy about it.</p>
