US History

I recently bought the AMSCO US History book and I will definitely try and go over every chapter before the test to jog my memory, etc. However, which topics appear the most on the test? What should I pay close attention to when I am studying?

When I took it in May (during AP weeks) I remember it had a lot of REALLY specific details. A lot was incredibly random…but you should just try to focus on the small things Like get a list of “history-making” books and memorize the authors and subject matter.

According to the bluebook of subject tests:
pre-colonial period - 1789 20%
1790 - 1898 40%
1899 - present 40%

Besides history questions, you’ll also encounter literature questions about certain time like the second awakening period.

I took the test in June and got an 800. Just go over AMSCO. I made the mistake of attempting to memorize everything in Barron’s. It did help a lot, but the amount of time it took made it not worth it. I think the stuff that comes up most is actually pre-colonial-mid 1800’s. There weren’t really a lot of stuff that was tested after the 1850’s. You have to pay close attention to every detail because some of the things asked are really specific. **also, memorize the time that things happened. that’s the most important thing. **
