US News 2007 Rankings Leaked Again: UCLA 26th

Here comes another, less UC-friendly, leaked US News ranking posted in College Search and Selection. Since this is only the Top 25, and Chicago seems to have teleported, this may also be a forged hoax -- let's hope so. I was quite confident that UCSD would surpass or at least match USC this year. That might not be the only thing to worry about...

National Universities
1. Princeton
2. Harvard
3. Yale
4. Cal Tech
MIT
Stanford
7. Penn
8. Duke
9. Columbia
Dartmouth
Chicago
12. Cornell
WashUStL
14. Northwestern
15. Brown
16. Johns Hopkins
17. Rice
18. Emory
Vanderbilt
20. Notre Dame
21. Carneie Mellon
Berkeley
23. Georgetown
24. Michigan
Virginia
26. UCLA
27. Tufts
UNC Chapel Hill
USC

In one, USC was ranked 34, in this one, it's ranked 27.
7. that's a lot of difference.

So USC's catching up with UCLA. FAST.
If UCLA don't keep up, it will no longer be in the top 3 Public University..
and USC may beat UCLA eventually.
Well of course, that's only in perspect of U.S. News, but still, that's something...

Yes Flopsy, because of the fact that Universities change DRAMATICALLY from year to year it seemed high-time that UCSD surged past USC...

themegastud, since you are in USC Marshall, can you tell me a bit about it?
like how hard is it to get an A, and all that good stuff.

dhl, go to Wharton... it is of course where you "have" to go to be a success (as you said in your other posts) and of course UCLA isn't a "good enough" univ. for you, so why dont u just go to marshall.... i'm sure you can buy your As there anyway if you're really concerned.

This new leak reveals US News hasn't revised its stance against public universities.
Most UCs have tumbled, especially UCSD (an astonishing 6) despite its academic gains.
The time has come for UCLA to heed my suggestions, and get its rank up where it belongs.

Summary of California universities:

You know....I'm just going to wait until Friday to find out the real list.

This is worse than the other "leaked" USNWR ranking.

Berkeley at number 21 only????!
Michigan & Virginia at number 24????!
UCLA number 26 only?????!

I wonder why didn't USNWR ranked the 4 elite STATE Us, (B-M-U-V) at the bottom to satisfy their fantasy game.

Or you could watch Snakes On A Plane, when it premiers in Westwood.

why are you so concerned about me trying to find things about schools I want to apply to? You see anything wrong with that?

dhl3 -- It's actually quite difficult to get an A in Marshall. Every Marshall class is based on a notorious 2.85 curve, to bring it in-line prestige wise with other top b-schools like Stern (infamous for the "Stern" curve) and Wharton. While one argument goes that it raises the perception of Marshall by recruiters by actually deflating grades (many public school students like to think that every private school suffers from grade INFLATION or that one can buy a grade, as locknload ignorantly mentioned but the opposite is true for USC-M), another argument goes that we'd (we being business majors) all have higher gpa's. Again though, this curve is present at most top b-schools, though not to my knowledge for UCLA BizEcon.

I'm just kidding bro. USC is a reputable school, but come on you gotta live the rivalry lol

i don't know what sucks more about this listing: UCLA going down or USC going up! ARGH!

how can USC be in the top 3 PUBLIC school if it's a private one?

UCLA is the Ivy of the West.

I wasn't talking about USC.
I was talking about UNC Chapel Hill possibly beating UCLA.
UNC Chapel IS a public university.

UCLA is ONE of the of the Ivies of the West.

Ivies of the West:

Stanford
Berkeley
UCLA
USC
MAYBE UCSD

and we are not talking about LAC.
Caltech doesn't count cuz it's a tech institute.

I doubt this is a fake. For one thing, the poster who leaked it didn't use the usual "I heard this from a friend of a friend of an uncle etc." story. It places too much accountability on him.

This one seems a lot more legit... even despite the huge leap by Chicago (which is totally warranted... they've always gotten the shaft). As much as I hate to admit it, U$C has totally bought their way up the totem pole in terms of average SAT scores, so their ranking in this one doesn't surprise me... it surprised me in the other one which put us at 24th that $C had gone down to 34th (as much as I'd love that to be the case). Not that the rankings matter other than to feed insatiable prestige-whores.
