<p>How is this list different from the National Universities?</p>
<p>Some of the schools I am considering are in the top 10 of a master universities list</p>
<p>The Master's universities are those whose highest degree is a master's. This includes many state universities that don't grant PhDs (like the Cal State system). They don't quite fit into LACs (undergrad, for the most part), either, so they have their own ranking.</p>
