@2manycollegequestions4me I believe those who have heard were a part of the CTE or Arts program, which has a different process entirely. All academic results will be posted online today—I’m not sure schools get notified at all for this level.
List is out. Congrats to all semifinalists! https://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/2018/semifinalists.pdf
DD made it. Yay!
Does anyone know when finalists will be released?
@xlhx33 Sometime today I think
Does anyone know if the selection process uses ACT subscores to select candidates? For example, two students, both having ACT composite scores of 36, but one is 36/36/36/36 and the other 36/35/35/36. Is it possible that one is selected and the other is not?
Found the answer on another website. Apparently, it does matter. They add up all the sections, so a sum of 144 is the highest. In places where it’s very competitive, the cutoff might be 144 or 143 or 142. That sounds crazy! In my state, the total number of candidates is twice as larger as 20 x 2, but I doubt there are that many perfect 36s though.
If sub scores are added and the total is used, how is this total concord to SAT? The official policy said sat is converted to Act sum of scores using the concordance table. There isn’t one to use at sub level, is there? Another thought is, with the newly adjusted concordance, the sat students were disadvantaged.
Using subscore totals might help SAT students though, because if the standard concordance table is used, only SAT 1600 correspond to ACT 36. SAT 1590 corresponds to ACT 35. But we all know it’s much harder to get a SAT 1590 than a ACT 36 composite. If subscores are used, SAT 1590 might correspond to, say, ACT 36|35|36|35, and that’s a composite 36 as well. That’s my guess.
Class of 2019 list will be released today in the afternoon. Best wishes!
@AggieMom68 how do you know?
I called them to ask about it. The automated message mentioned it. Most probably late afternoon on Tuesday, Jan 22.
Do you know where the post is?
It hasn’t been released yet. Maybe tomorrow. But definitely, it’s coming soon. https://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/index.html
Thanks.
Called… List will post SHORTLY. Clearing technical difficulty.
So I guess it will not be affected by the Govt. shutdown.
Hi, I just got off the phone with the US Dept. of Education. Spoke with a live person who said it would be released by the end of this week or next. Very vague.
It is online now! https://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/awards.html
Could use some help. Just called after D was not on list and told they would not have qualifying numbers until next week. Score would have qualified in Utah last year. Anyone from Utah in with a 35.0 (140 total) one time take?
