USA June 2011 SAT Critical Reading Thread

@marinebio444

-3 (as in wrong) = -4 = 63/67

Since it was a bit harder in CR I would say anywhere from a 770-790

Was one of the answers to the sentence completions magnanimous? and was another one decorum or jocularity?

^

I had magnanimous! I don’t remember decorum or jocularity though.

Does anyone remember the answer to the sentence completion that had melatonin and one of the choices was catalyst (wrong)?

I don’t think we came to a conclusion on this one:
From the one about Censureship…
How would the author of passage 2 respond to the description of teachers/librarians in passage 1…
I remember harsh but accurate?
Anyone else agree with that or was it way off?

@goldring2012 predictions for 2 omitted, 3 wrong?

@bandwagon neither of those are correct i think. the decorum one was loquacious

I also put harsh & accurate.

@levinel I believe I put that answer.

Can someone answer my questions?

1) What does the use of “separate lives” indicate?
-A plan she had previously espoused

^ What was the wording of the other option that had the mother in it?

2) Does anyone remember the answer to the sentence completion that had melatonin and one of the choices was catalyst (wrong)?

I thought the Gardener did appeal to authority… many times he was like I am the one who controls what grows and what does not, and he referred to things as being subjects and objects?? Isn’t that authority

i got joyous…

@bandwagon the answer to that one was soporific, it means sleep inducing.

@yanks12 I put loquacious. Was magnanimous correct?

@Brolex I keep getting confused on choices lol I put soporific for that one.

can we discuss the censorship one? I cant remember anything about that.

@bandwagon

thats -6 so probs about a 740-750 for this test

loquacious was correct.

wait for which one? loquacious wasn’t even a choice lol.

it wasn’t loquacious.

It was “Loquacity” but, it’s basically the same word.

i don’t think we’re talking about the same question lol.

what were the other answer choices?

loquacious was one the choices among jocularity and decorum. the question was about the guy who was voluble on many subjects yet lacked _____ when speaking about topics and preferred to demonstrate.

Loquacious was a choice.

Does anyone know the answers to the wind turbine passage? It’s ironic because I wrote my essay about the exact same thing!

*** are you serious?! i could swear loquacity wasn’t a choice -__________-

maybe i misbubbled…
