Usafa Pw

Colorado Springs and the USAFA is beautiful. The stay has been absolutly fantastic. Pictures cannot begin to describe the setting.

Highlights:
1. Dinner in Mitches Friday evening. (I just wanted to see how bad/good the food was at a Military Instalation.) I thought it was very good. Buffet style, Chicken, Fish, and STEAK. Salads, vegies, bread/butter. I asked my son if it is like this all the time. He said usually. What is nice is, they can take what ever and as much as they want from Mitches back to the dorm. He took a bag of Tortia Chips and Cheese dip back to Sijan. He said there is no real need for care packages because he can get anything there.
I have read that NAVY is having a tuff time in their mess hall. He did not complain and gave Mitches a thumbs up.
2. Squadron Open House. Cake was great
3. Saturday Football Game. The Falcons Rocked. Gave South Carolina a tuff time. 34 - 3. The squadron Tail-Gating was awesome.
4. Sunday Service at the Chapel. Beautiful
5. Touring Jack's Valley and the Athletic Facilities. If a Cadet here cannot find something to do for Physical Fitness, they are not looking.
6. Just being in this beautiful part of America....

To all you prospective parents of Cadets and Midshipmen.....Good Luck in your endeavors. I see now why my son was so commited to get his appointment.

By the way......he did it all himself. There was no medling, , checking deadlines, making phone calls, or questioning him. It was all him. When his AOL called and gave me the message of his appointment last Spring, that is when I was the most involved....Because I had to tell him that he called and that he could be expecting something in the mail. Low and behold about 3 weeks later, the big envelope came.

I can't wait to come back out here and I still have one more day here.

What a great experience!

Thats a big OUCHIE on your #3 there. Can we just talk about the brighter side of things? You've no idea how much razzing I'm taking between SC State & that whole Miss Teen USA thing. :D

Glad the visit is awesome. Enjoy proud Dad!!

Mitch's is definitely improving, and I definitely LOVE Colorado...even when it's near Zero, 40mph winds, and snowing. It's still beautiful.

Our WP D is at Air Force this semester as an exchange student. She really enjoyed parent weekend there and had some interesting comparisons with Plebe-Parent Weekend at West Point. The biggest was that parents from all four classes are invited vs just Plebe parents at West Point. The other major difference was that the zoomies (4th class cadets as well) are allowed to leave the academy overnight during the weekend (at WP plebes must stay within 50 miles) and must return to barracks each night). I forgot to ask her if the zoomies had to wear their uniforms during PPW when off Academy grounds (WP plebes must stay in uniform all weekend, on or off post). She really enjoyed the parade as she was assigned as an escourt and got to meet quite a few senior officers. She was surprised to meet so many old grads at West Point who had son's or daughters at Air Force. She loves Colorado and right now thinks she would like her first posting to be at Fort Carson.

Fourth class cadets must remain in Service Dress off campus (except at their hotel, where they can change into PC gear (workout uniform).
