Hi, I recently got rejected from USC (applied for Marshall).
2340 SAT (750 CR, 790 M, 800 W)
3.7 UW GPA, 3.25 W GPA
EIC of yearbook,
president of interns and accounting internship at a business organization for helping the blind,
3 yrs varsity cheer,
worked on an accounting research paper (and currently in the process of publishing with a prestigious accounting journal) with a former usc accounting professor,
got into mensa,
did lots of volunteer,
tutored for lots of ADHD programs (b/c I myself have ADHD),
was Head Tutor at one of those ADHD programs,
was in Inner Council and Sadies Committee, etc.
I am going to be appealing my rejection, but I have a few questions.
In the FAQ letter they sent me, they said “No, we ask that you do not send in letters of rec; the time constraint on teachers makes it hard for them” I asked the former USC professor I worked with for a letter of rec and he very kindly said he would, but I’m not sure if I should include it because it might rub the adcom the wrong way. I feel that including it could either be a hit or miss-I know the letter will be glowing, but they did say they would not prefer it.
Can I include my recent grades with my appeal if they’re all A’s? (my midyear report had all A’s and one C so I don’t think that came off too well)
Also, if i magically do get in, do I only get in as undecided and not marshall?
Lastly, SHOULD i even appeal? what are my chances of getting in?
bump
i hope someone will help me pls?
I’m not sure what you should attach with your appeal, but I would definitely appeal even if you risk irking the admission officer. It’s your future/life here so you ought to take whatever measures you think are necessary in order to realize any dreams you have that stem from going to USC.
Why appeal unless you like to receive rejection letters. Better to move on. If you want to remain a part of the Trojan community, use condoms of the same name.
How nice – we have a little pet troll who swooped in to provide lots of sophomoric comments. Seriously, the Trojan joke is old, dude. Move on.
This is interesting, in another thread (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1632415-usc-appeals-2014.html#latest, post #75), @excanuck99 wants to appeal, here (post #3) he/she advises others not to appeal.
Do you know when the last day to appeal is?
Good catch @co4usc2016, it doesn’t seem @excanuck99 is on here to help others out that’s for sure, original post was pretty bitter and blaming. It’s am emotional time I suppose.
I am on here to help. Sorry if you didn’t appreciate my humor. The reality is that appealing is usually futile. Look at the numbers. Why set yourself up for more rejection? Unless your school submitted the wrong transcript, your chances are almost nil. Focus on where you have been admitted. Rejection is part of life; I’ve had my share. And frankly, why try to force yourself on a university that doesn’t want you?
when will we get a decision
