I still haven’t gotten anything. Has anyone tried emailing an admissions counselor?
I have yet to hear anything. I’m hoping this is not their way of saying no.
But others have received rejection letters. Why would we not receive one or the other?
Nothing portal or email.
Did you ever get an email or something on your portal? I still have nothing.
So now what if we haven’t heard back?
not sure, there’s really no precedent for this because USC has generally just let people know one way or another
guessing that we haven’t gotten in though because their first priority would be to their accepted students. no idea why someone has been rejected though; that’s kind of baffling
96 and #101 stated they were rejected. See above posts. Still, if no word by now, extremely likely I would assume that rejected. Nothing here.
Not to sound rude, but they told us Friday May 13th, I understand if they are going to reject us, but why make us wait???
I still have not heard back at all…strange…
Sorry for your frustration everyone, I know the wait has to be brutal on you and yes, a bit insensitive if they did in fact post that the results would be up by 5pm on the 13th. Graduation was Friday and all I can think is the day got away from them or something, obviously they had many priorities that day. Hopefully you all have great back up plans or will still hear good news. Wish you all well.
Kirk Brennan, the director for undergrad admission at USC tweeted this out when he was asked about the appeal decision problem: “call us Monday at 213-740-1111. I sent e-mails Friday, but it seems many have not been received. Poss IT issue. Check spam?”
So it looks like something went wrong with their emails not being all sent.
Would that account for the portal remaining unchanged, too? Is there any reason to hold out hope? This is agony.
Well I’m guessing by Monday the rest of the decisions will be sent out. And I’m sure those decisions are going to consist of both acceptances and denials. So yes there’s still hope as this was an error within their own technology and email server. It wouldn’t hurt to give them a call tomorrow. Fight on.
Rejected. Came via email. By the way just wondering basis of 2 of you accepted if you are willing to share, just generally, what kind of new information? I had very compelling information but was rejected. Was just so shocked that I didn’t get in, I had to appeal, UCLA bound!
I agree with @user99bound. Please share as I also had some compelling information. Also keep in mind, that it depends what major you’re going for. As an assumption, the two accepted appeals were probably admitted into a lesser impacted major? I appealed for an impacted major so my chances were much slimmer.
Kirk Brennan, USC Associate Dean of Admissions, tweeted this about the appeals IT situation around 1PM PST:
“Still looking into why notification e-mails havent been received by those waiting for results of their appeal. We sent them Fri. …Many students have received the notification.”
THEN he tweeted this:
“We received appox 1,000 appeals. We approved very few, ~20, for either fall or spring adm. No news is not likely good news, unfortunately.”
Thoughts? I’ve been warping my mind around his diction! When he said “not likely” was he being sensitive or was he being non-definitive while trying to calm the storm? And was his statement about the 20 acceptances for either fall or spring indicating a total of 20 or 20 for each term?
I would interpret that to mean the less than 20 people that got in with appeal have likely responded (which they would see) so they know most are accounted for. It seems he is saying if you haven’t got info yet, you were not admitted. But even if one admitted didn’t get the news yet, this covers his tracks. You don’t even one person doing something drastic with the college plans till they are sure of the accurate info.
@user99bound did you get your rejection today? if so, I’m not sure what’s going on because I thought the offices would be closed today
