@flyingmonkey123 Film and TV production as well! If my appeal isn’t successful (which is very likely) I will probably be attending Chapman. I know how crazy hard it is to get into USC’s film school but still really sad about the rejection I think it had to a lot to do with my grades
@jelly39 yeah I think it might’ve been my grades too, I’m slightly below average. To answer your question about the due date, I’m pretty sure it’s due by midnight tomorrow (Friday, May 6) pacific time. But it’ll be best to get it in early to be safe. What kind of new and compelling information did you have?
@flyingmonkey123 do you know where we submit appeals?
@Sbp325 we do it on the portal at you.usc.edu. Click on “submit documents” then go to the document library and upload the appeal on “appeal of admission decision”
i submitted my appeal earlier today but I just realized i forgot to include my middle name on my cover page, do you think this can cause issues with the appeal process? given that it says to write full name and on my rejection letter my middle name was included in that as well. If so would I be able to resubmit?
@nrod17 I would suggest speaking to your admissions officer. Either email tonight and they’ll most likely get back by morning, or call the office tomorrow during their office hours and explain the situation. It might be fine though since you included your USC id, so they should be able to find you
Can someone look at my appeal?
@fm52018 I can
I wonder how many people wrote their appeal like Brian Rose, it definitely influenced mine a little bit
@randomstudent19 how so?
I didn’t write mine like him at all. Mine was just talking about me and a couple new things, along with thanking them for reading my letter, and how I believed I could be a great fit for the school
How can I send you my letter?
@flyingmonkey123
@fm52018 Click on someone’s user name and the option to “message” comes up.
@flyingmonkey123 I think I just admired how gutsy it was and I can relate because I want to be a journalism major. It definitely made me discuss how I’ve tried to put journalism first in my high school career and that I think I deserve at least another evaluation
as someone who worked in an admissions office, i don’t think it’s very appropriate or necessary to send your appeal letter to a dean or director. They do not dictate the last say and therefore, giving the document to them would most likely result in them sending the letter to everyone else in the admissions department. UNLESS you had something to say directly to them and nothing regarding your appeal, then it would be appropriate. Other than that, they seem to be annoyed (speaking from experience of seeing a dean receive six within a day and just asking the other directors if they received it too).
Guys is it ok that my letter is longer than a page???
They tell you it should be a page. Make it a page. Decrease the font or edit but keep it a page.
In my letter i formatted it like:
FIRST LAST
ADDRESS
PHONE NUMBER
DATE
Mr kirk brennan
USC address
To whom it may concern
[Letter]
Sincerely,
First Last
This is correct right
Yes, business professional format. All good.
How should I format the cover letter??
