I think umiami or bucknell
@randomstudent19 Really like UMiami’s campus. Bit quiet in evenings.
I wonder how many people decided to appeal this year, I heard the number has gone up from 1,000
@randomstudent19 Where did you get that info? (“gone up from 1,000”)
The 1000 figure is in the FAQs so it makes sense with the increase in apps there would be an increase in appeals.
In 2016 this info came out…don’t recall what they said last year, but it is always around 1000 appeals.
Kirk Brennan, USC Associate Dean of Admissions, tweeted this about the appeals
“We received approx 1,000 appeals. We approved very few, ~20, for either fall or spring adm. No news is not likely good news, unfortunately.”
@CADREAMIN when did this tweet come out?
When will they tell us about our appeal deicsion???

In 3 weeks we’ll know!!
It does
Extenuating circumstances behind my grades. My first semesters have been day and night compared to my seconds, but my junior year in particular was unique, because 3 of my grades each dropped a letter grade in the span of a week. My counselor mentioned me getting sick around finals week, but she didn’t know all the details about it. My grandpa had heart surgery and my parents weren’t home a lot (dad went to work, but took my brothers to school, while a friends parents took them home, while my mom was caring for my grandpa). I had to take more responsibility of the house and take more charge, but this overwhelmed me along with my extracurriculars and having to keep my grades up. However, I had a bad flu that kept me in bed for the weekend and inhibited my focus. I regret going to finals since I wasn’t adequately prepared and 3 of my classes dropped out of rounding range. I talked about how I didn’t want this to epitomize my high school career, and how I took it upon myself to improve 2nd semester. I also mentioned how I took matters to avoid such thing in the future. I’m not sure if this is a good story, but I just wanted USC to know of all the circumstances.
can you guys briefly share your gpa and sat/act scores, which school you’re applied to, your extracurriculars, teachers’ recommendations and your essays
just curious nothing more
This is awful. Feel like I shouldn’t have even appealed. I’m trying to get excited for a new college and this is just messing with my head
@thatdariakid I have a 4.3 and a 1550, yet was denied by the Marshall School of Business. I was accepted to UVA (pre-business), Michigan (Honors College), Northeastern (Merit scholarship), BU (accepted to business), UCSD, UCSB, and Emory University. I was also waitlisted by NYU (Stern), UC Berkeley, WashU St. Louis, UC Irvine, and UC Davis. I accepted my offer of admission from UVA but USC is my dream school. I started my own business in HS, I started a mock trial and model un team on my campus, I was the head of an anti-genocide group, student ambassador, was the head of business, operations, and PR on my robotics team (and did CP and ME), investment club (and had my own personal portfolio), volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. There’s a lot more I did but the list would go on for a while. I had strong rec’s and my essay’s were about hardships I went through and my passion for business.
I was denied from the School of Cinematic Arts, which is understandable. I still dont want to completely rule out my chances though, so I have hope. I did get into the film school at FSU and I was wondering if any of you know anything about it. I don’t know much about it but I do know that it is also a great program, and the student films are funded. Any additional information would be helpful, I’m trying to get excited for going there so I don’t feel terrible when USC rejects me again lol
Getting into FSU MPA is a huge accomplishment. Last year, only 20-22 or so got in as freshmen. A few more got in as transfers. It is a conservatory program designed around film production specifically. The first year is FSU only… knocking out general education requirements. You do not actually start in the film program at the College of Motion Picture Arts (unless you just volunteer on projects) until year two. It also requires summer terms. But once you are in it, it is film production, including all elements, full time / all the time, until graduation. Last year’s Academy Award winner for best picture, Moonlight, was made by three filmmakers who all were there at FSU MPA together a few years before. Of course, FSU MPA required a multi-hour in-person interview process that explained all of the above. So… if you were admitted, you should already know this. My daughter went through that process last year before committing to USC instead. FSU MPA is considered a top film program and gaining more recognition yearly.
Congrats on that as an option. If you go… you will at least graduate being well-prepared for a career in film. The rest is up to you…
Good Luck
If I forgot to mention that I want to be considered for a different major but I already submitted my appeal statement, is it worth it to contact admissions? or is it a lost cause at this point?
I already asked admissions they said at this stage we will only be considered for our first and second choice and undeclared
Good to know! Thank you for finding out @zofiaaa
Only one more weekkkkkkk
