Many of these gifts were to build or upgrade aging facilities. One of the most important donations was from the Otis Booth Foundation of $5 million to endow the USC athletics community service program. SC athletes provide some 4,000 volunteer service hours each year.
USC has the only endowed community service program in the country.
One of the athletic support groups is the Heritage Association. It is an organization of former SC student athletes who donate to USC. Although new, it already has 800 members.
