Also, I don't know if this is factoring into your decision, but look at where the schools are at. JHU is in Baltimore, which is a nice city and everything, but when I was there, there didn't seem to be much to do except go to the harbor and watch weird street performers. USC is in Los Angeles, the second biggest city in the nation...you have so much at your fingertips it's not even funny.

thanks, everyone, i'm really glad i posted this
the fam was ready to send the deposit to jhu, but i got them to agree, and i'm choosing usc
:)

Congrats! Welcome to the Trojan Family :). PM me for the Facebook group, haha. (Or xc or cece, we're all on there)

hey cecesunshine and xCrunner18! Just out of curiosity, are you from California? and have you heard any feedback from the people in the bacc/md program (what they liked, especially if there was anything they didn't like)? by the way, were you choosing from other combined programs?

First off, congrats babel410, hopefully I'll meet you there next year.

Avidog, I am not from California, I'm from a suburb near Chicago, IL. I've talked to a few people in the bacc/md program (few freshmen, couple sophomores, and a couple m4's that have gone from usc to usc med school)

All of them enjoy the program, and have no regrets about coming to USC. But, that is a definite tone at USC, the people there really love where the are, and would choose it over an over again. As for the bacc/md's I've heard that some really take the guarantee to heart and explore completely different things in undergrad. My interviewer for instance majored Economics and took two years off after undergrad to climb everest. Others, take the guarantee as a fall back and work hard during undergrad to apply out. This year, 10 usc grads were accepted to UCLA, 3 to yale, and others to top programs. The 4th year med student at USC med school applied out after undergrad and got accepted at a couple schools (Waitlisted at Wash U). They finally chose to attend USC, and matched into ortho surgery in Seattle (top ortho residency).

Right now I'm deciding between Dartmouth and USC Bacc/md. I was accepted to UIC GPPA, but I'm not considering it anymore.

ha u think chicago's far? try new orleans, thats where i'm from.

but yea basically what xcrunner said is all true. the people we met at interviews all LOVE it at usc and are really glad they chose the bacc/md. it gives them a step up from all the other premeds, esp in research opportunities, etc.

yea i'm same as xcrunner, choosing between dartmouth and usc. i also got into rice and emory, but those are completely out in comparison with those to. i applied to plme and rice/baylor, but i was rejected from both. didnt apply to any of the smaller ones. i'm kinda glad i didnt get in though, cuz now my choice is sooo much easier
