USC campus

I'm intrested in transfering to USC for my Sophomore year but i've heard that the area around the campus is not the safest. What do most USC students do if they need to buy groceries or do little things like get a hair cut? Can most of these things be bought near campus and what stores are in safer locations/which areas should be avoided?

Also i'de like to visit the campus soon i'll be flying into LA. What is the best way to get to the campus from the LAX.

Hey man, USC is like a 15 min drive from Hollywood. There are ralphs near by. Dont stress :) It's alllll gooood.

Hope that helps.

Across the street from USC is the University Village (UV for short) and it has just about everything you need (food, haircut, groceries, etc). Because it is so close to campus, there are no safety issues.

Rather than go to the supermarket near campus, a lot of people opt for Ralphs. That's in a more sketchy neighborhood, and probably not within walking distance so most people take cars.

As far as getting to campus, USC has a shuttle service to and from the airport but I'm not sure whether prospective students can use it as well. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle van for a reasonable price.

Hope that helps!

To get to USC, rent a car. You can try and take a cab, but be prepared to spend your entire college tuition on the ride there. Anyways, with your car take 105 east, 110 north, and get off exposition blvd. If youre driving on the highway and pass a big ass building with the words Galen Center engraved on it, congratulations you have skipped USC and are now entering the most congested part of highway 110. If in case that does happen, abandon your vehicle on the highway and just walk back towards USC, as that would actually be the most quickest way there.

I think one of those vans (Super Shuttle, etc) tops both those options. ;)

actually flat rate for a cab ride to anywhere in downtown from lax is 32 or 35 dollars

really? everyone said it would be like 80. we ended up renting a car and wasn't that fun, but hey it got me to Santa Monica

If USC students want to go chill at Santa Monica over the weekend, what's the best way to get there if you don't have a car as a freshman?

Straight down the 10 on a bus or shuttle.
