USC Class of 2022

Guys don’t be scared. I live an hour away from USC and just got my mail but the USC letter isn’t here. I don’t think we’ll receive it today (maybe for people who live even closer?)

There’s a new blog from USC’s dean of admissions:
https://admissionblog.usc.edu/it-was-the-best-of-times-it-was-the-worst-of-times/

Some of the amazing stats:

  • More than 64,000 first-year applicants
  • 13% admission rate; 8,258 students admitted
  • The average un-weighted GPA, on a 4-point scale, is 3.86
  • 34% of admits have perfect un-weighted GPAs of 4.0; another 10% earned only one B in high school
  • The middle-50% ACT range is 31-35; the middle-50% SAT range is 1410-1530
  • 85% had standardized test scores in the 95th percentile or higher

Good luck to all who applied.

3.86?! I’m screwed. I had 3.76. ugh.

Look, at this point I don’t care if it’s a acceptance package or a rejection letter, I just wanna know. These next three days are going to be the death of me. ;~;

So spring admit stats are not included in these figures?

.

Why do they even report GPA in the statistics. It is useless to report GPA across schools, as schools have varying levels of difficulty… At some schools 4.0s don’t exist

This may be a silly question, but I also saw a statistic saying that minorities make up 69% of the admitted class and I wondered how this is possible? For the undergraduate body as a whole the percentage is around 40%, is this just due to the yield rate?

Is northern Utah slated for 2nd day or 3rd day delivery?

does anyone have that link that says how long my rejection letter will take to arrive?

Not that they would ever do this, but it would be interesting to see the stats broken out by group. And sex.

Middle 50% is 1410-1530?? How is that at all a holistic review lol… well it’s a rip for me

I’m confused. How does one get a 4.0 without straight As? 10% earned only 1 B, what did the other 24% with 4.0s get??

@polololo Compared to WUSL which was 1500-1580 it was holistic. Considering the number of apps and who they had to choose from I would wager a lot of higher scoring people were tossed as well as lower scoring,

@kuhlm44937
They mean that 34 percent received 4.0, and 10 more percent one B, totaling 44 percent. That is honestly crazy

@kuhlm44937 the 34% of 4.0 does not include the 10% that got one B. so basically 44% either got a 4.0 or only one B

@kuhlm44937 34% have 4.0 (straight A’s). Plus ANOTHER 10% have only one B.

@808college808 oh wow I’m dumb :)) thanks for clarifying!

Also if 44 percent got 1 B or less, how is the average 3.86. 2 or 3 Bs in all of High School is not 3.86

Correct if I’m wrong, but according to this:

https://admissionblog.usc.edu/it-was-the-best-of-times-it-was-the-worst-of-times/

8,258 students were admitted to USC.
69% of those students were of color.
So, the remaining 31% is 2,560 admitted white students.
Over 64,000 applied
2,560/64,000 = 0.04
0.04 x 100 = 4%

Only a 4% acceptance rate for white people?! :frowning:
Also, halve that number to get approximate gender percentages… :frowning:
