USC Class of 2022

Trustee scholarship decisions are starting to get posted.

Presidential as well!

is it under “admission decision” for scholarship notification?

@caleegalee

Of course it helps to be a NMF. Stellar stats are always an advantage.

But… there are also of course some applicants who potentially come off as rather shallow or one-dimensional or even worse… entitled. There is likely a reason or potentially more than one reason why 3K applicants with test scores in the 99th percentile were rejected last year. Maybe they assumed too much and did not put forth their best effort toward all of their application packages. Maybe they are great test takers but offer little else. Some were likely also well-rounded but simply fell victim to a #s crunch related to their chosen major or their demographic group (for example, in this climate - Asians and Asian-American applicants face additional challenges simply due to the # of similarly qualified applicants of the same ethnicity) or state of residence, etc.

There are just so many potential factors at play. The mistake is for someone to simply assume that their 1500+ SAT score or 35-36 ACT score is going to equate to admission absent other compelling reasons. With an admission rate of only 13%, 87% of all applicants are going to be disappointed. Many of them will also be stellar candidates equally deserving of admission.

USC, like most elite schools, had a very tough decision in an effort to narrow down to only 8250 or so out of 64K. And if an unsuccessful applicant can look back at their application and truly say that they put their best foot forward and did all that they could to reveal themselves and demonstrate interest and offer a valid reason for why USC should admit them and what USC would gain from them being on campus, etc… well, that is all that should matter. All any of us can do is our best. If that was insufficient… oh well. The future will still be bright and prosperous via another path. If that rejection comes… simply go forth and prove USC wrong…

Is this all scholarships or just presidential and trustee, because I applied for the Jewish leadership scholarship.

Frick I should’ve applied for scholarships :frowning: I’m dumb

@kevbostic, yes it will be under admission decision and reportedly a new document under “current message” will be there to click on.

@kevbostic Yes, the scholarship decisions are posted under the “admissions decision” link.

Great job calling the day @cadreamin on scholarship decisions, even with admissions giving the wrong information over the phone to people just today! Way to not back down on your predictions.

Can someone who has applied for financial aid check their portal?
Mine says:
Financial Aid Application in Review
Your financial aid application is currently in review. Please note: We will notify you during the review process if additional documents are required. Financial Aid Summaries for new freshmen will be released beginning March 27th.
Is that true for all?

@collegehope22 yes. same

Mine says that too

Is it just the scholarships that people interviewed for?

Well I’m going to sleep. Good luck to everyone in the one-day zone tomorrow! :slight_smile:

@collegehope22 - Doesn’t mean anything; it’s normal. It was probably like that two weeks ago. Sorry, I didn’t want people to latch onto that as an indicator of admission. Based on last year, anxious applicants are going to overthink anything they see on the portals.

anyone receive anything about the Norman Topping Scholarship?

Is it just the scholarships that people interviewed for?

Hey everyone! Been out all day, lots abuzz on here.

@cali1999 Yes this is just scholarships people interviewed for.

@stlouisphoenix You will hear back for that separately.

Can’t wait to see who is first to post tomorrow!!!

Last year it was a student home from school sick so they got their mail at 10:30am! That was an early record!

My USPS informed delivery says that I have a shipment coming from San Jose. It says pro star fulfillment/ pro star logistics. Does anyone else have this?
