@cali1999, yea, there’s also the USC Snapchat post that indicated Friday without a time, so it could be early Friday morning. Come to think of it, the Admissions person I talked to two days ago said she thought it would be afternoon on Friday but did not know for sure.
If I get rejected, is there a way to appeal it? If I get into USC I’m going there for sure and can pay full price. So if I don’t get in is it possible to appeal it by saying those two things alongside why I believe I would be a good fit? Or do they not do appeals? Getting so nervous.
@polololo, Bay Area would be second day so Sat. However, USPS not reliable so not getting it Saturday would not mean that you did not get admitted.
@Nomorelurker - I agree. I think it might be midnight. The admissions person said that it was likely to be available in the morning on Fri - after midnight.
@boxerluvr From what I know only state schools have the appeal system but maybe I’m wrong
@925275, this is the first I am hearing that Admissions indicated scholarship info may be on the portal Friday morning?
@boxerluvr in the podcast they posted on their twitter they did mention an appeals process that you can follow (I think it would be in the letter)
Does usc waitlist or do they just do spring admits?
@boxerluvr - Yes, you can appeal a rejection. However, from past posts by others and USC, only about twenty are successful.
@idkclassof22 No early admission/decision and no wait list. USC’s approach is rather unique these days…
Does anybody know if the March 25th portal release is at a certain time?
@cleanbucket28 If the past few years is an indicator, they will start to update just after midnight pacific time.
But the updates can take some time to roll out… and the website could get bogged down with tens of thousands trying to log-on simultaneously. It took many an hour or more to get in last year… some did not have an answer posted to their portals for even longer. As I recall… those that updated much later were denials – unfortunately.
If you are curious to see what the panic of last year looked like in real time, here is the thread from March of 2017 starting at the point that the portals first began to update…
Or, you can scroll back to when the “white boxes” first started to arrive.
Something to do while you all wait lol
are denials only notified through the portal or do they also get a letter?
^^^ both.
Thank you, WWWard, for your post regarding the selection process at SC. In previous years some parents have been upset after admitted students listed scores, grades and honors which did not appear to be equal or better than denied applicants. All admitted students do not choose to write about highly personal family or health challenges on a public forum. Volunteers here have learned over time the admissions counselors have pages of private information to help make those difficult choices.
Best ol luck to all who have been waiting.
You’re welcome, @“Georgia Girl” Indeed. We are all more than just a set of stats or #s… and no single post can detail and quantify the experiences that has led a 17-18 year old to this point in their life or elaborate upon all of the elements under review and fully known to those rendering these admission decisions.
I guess being a national merit finalist won’t really help, huh.
Scholarship peeps: check your portal. Some decisions have been released.
Yes, they are starting to show up on the portal.
is it only for scholarship finalists? or does it include people who got in RD with nmf scholarship?
