Son finally got into the portal after 45 minutes of retries and reCaptchas. First saw the menu changed. On the top right corner it says “Welcome to USC”, and menu becomes “Check decision”, “Submit deposit”, etc. Son clicked on the “check decision” menu, web site went unavailable again. He kept refreshing it, finally see the link to download decision in PDF form. Opened the PDF, and Accepted to Comp Sci + Business Administration, his first choice major!
This is incredible … now we just need to figure out how to afford it!
To all who are sad about being rejected. You deserve to have the time to feel sad and let it out. However, do not forget that you have the right to be proud of everything you have accomplished these past four years!. You have worked so hard, do not let a response from a college stop you from recognizing all the battles you have won! And many of you still have other colleges you’ve yet to hear from. Good luck and stay positive you’ve worked too hard to beat yourself up.
NOTICE: USC does NOT dedicate a lot of servers to hosting application check, which means that there is only certian number of people get get access to the server while the others have to wait till these people finish. Each server has its cap number of users, just like a restaurant. Those who see service unavailable or database error have to wait in line. Thats it!
@CADREAMIN So far the best one that’s accepted me is Boston University. I’m seriously regretting putting down Asian, but it’s the only way to describe where I’m from. I’m from the former Soviet Union countries that are in the middle of Asia, but commonapp has east Asia and south. I went with East, but I honestly think they need to diversify it more. It would be my dream to get into a really good school, but just getting into college has been an accomplishment. I got Waitlisted to Caltech so we’ll see if that one pulls through
Refreshing is just like trying to enter the gate again and again. Occasionally, you make it before others and then you see the result. Nothing special about it. Everyone is trying to get into a small gate of that server.
Oh geez, WL at Caltech? Wow. Are you sending a letter of any kind confirming your commitment to attend if you get off WL? Or do they just know they are Caltech and everyone feels that way?
@CADREAMIN I am going to send a letter in, but they honestly know XD I know they do get weaker on financial aid though at the waitlist stage…they are honestly my dream school. I’d want nothing more than to go there
