USC Class of 2022

That was my understanding too. ^^^

@grapesofwrathdad, congrats to your son!

What I find interesting is that my son is admitted to ALL the schools your son did, and rejected by the same schools as well. So that leads to my theory – admission is not random after all. A cluster of colleges are evaluating students in similar ways. If you get into one of these, you are likely to get into others in the same cluster.

@WWWard

Thanks, got into Marshall! I live in Miami Beach.

I just checked my mail and no package today. I’m hoping it’ll arrive tomorrow!
Really bummed that some of my friends have received it and I haven’t :confused:

Is it possible for me to not receive it at all? Sucks we cant track the package.

@mightmarryrich I wouldn’t worry about it. Although I received the package yesterday, another school I was accepted to took almost 2 weeks to send me theirs.

‘CADREAMIN’ If you get a Presidential or trustee scholarship, then don’t you get slotted into a particular freshman dorm? This would include NMF also right? So no rush, right?

If my assumptions are incorrect, please let me know so I can right away drop down a deposit. But as I see it, we will wait out the ivy day to see if another first choice comes thru.

I was able to put down the $55 housing deposit only, which was accepted even without the enrollment deposit.

@sekere62, if your kid is awarded a Presidential or better scholarship, they are eligible to live in McCarthy, which is a big deal.

@sekere62 Please read post #4880 ^^. I gambled the $55 deposit to get a good place in line. We put it down even before we went on ExploreUSC.

@mightmarryrich Congrats! I have heard of that happening too… but very rarely. Give it a week and then maybe ask your specific admission adviser if you can get a replacement package… assuming it never arrives.

What was the acceptance rate this year for USC?

@WWWard
That’s probably what I’ll do.
Hopefully it wont come to that! :slight_smile:

@sagra 13%

I posted this on the appeal thread, but there’s more people on here, so maybe someone can help. This is regarding my appeal:
Should I only submit it on the portal? I am asking because I don’t know who all will read it. Part of me wants to send it to the dean of undergrad admissions, dean of Marshall (where I applied), and vice dean of undergrad admissions for Marshall. I don’t know if I should or if it will seem to pushy or annoying. Some people online recommend doing this, but for other colleges, not for USC specifically.

I would think that bombarding the Sr. staff with your request would not be the most effective approach. I would demonstrate your ability to follow instructions and submit through the channels they have identified.

So some unsettling news… Found out today a girl from my school got in to the same school @ USC I applied too. Lower stats, not many ECs… but her parents have donated millions to the school. Just feeling kind of screwed over over here.

Someone at my school has a famous parent who definitely got him in. HIs grades weren’t the best, but the connections got him in.

Frankly, if a family donates millions to any school, their kid better get in.

@boxerlover , Correlation is not causation. She may have been given preferential treatment, or maybe not, you’ll never know.

FWI, I’m a boxer lover too :slight_smile:

@blueskies2day but is that what you would wanna teach your kids? I think that’s just what makes me angry. If my parents donated millions to a school and that’s how I got in, I would be so embarrassed…

I’m not going to pretend I’m anything special, but I find it really odd to be accepted to Northwestern University and rejected from USC. I was honestly expecting the reverse to happen. 32 ACT, 3.8 GPA uw, tons of EC and volunteer hours, as well as several state champions awards for piano under my belt. My older sister applied not 5 years ago and was accepted to a similar program with the presidential scholarship, despite having a lower ACT and significantly less EC. Just makes you realize how much harder it is to get into college these days…Ah well. This’ll sting for a while, but congrats to all who got in!
