Congrats to all who have received the white box and ongoing luck to others still waiting. @CADREAMIN or anyone who may know, I have seen some post that the portal will update at 10pm (PT) while others say after midnight but before 12:30am (PT)?
Usc is really messing around with decisions this year!
@CaDreamin If no merit money is given by February 1, does that mean there is no chance for merit money?
@thewait123 wait, so we get a letter even if we didn’t get the scholarship? I thought we just got an email.
For the last 4 years it has updated at 12:00-12:30am PST. So that would be Thursday night/Friday morning. It takes a few hours to update, I remember being online with people at 3am still waiting (so go to bed people and check in morning)! I understand it is hard to do.
But a big wave goes that first hour. Heck some people weren’t updated at 8am, but I think that was more of a glitch and not that common.
I have not seen anything reliable that is is being done at 10. But admissions may make that public soon.
Update: I just called my admissions counselor and she said all decisions were sent. Not sure what this means consideringanother poster got a different answer!
@sprinter1 When I asked, “by February 1, students will receive a box or a letter,” the person responded “yes.” It could be that her yes was as to the box by February 1 and she did not feel the need to clarify that it would not be a letter, but would be some other form of notification.
The letter about not proceeding in the merit process is via email and posted to the admissions portal.
I hear that staggered story every year, not buying it. Besides, it drags out the angst. I would rather think I am not getting it, then be surprised rather than wonder for days, it really does exhaust some people and is super distracting. Doesn’t matter though, portal will update.
@ihopeigetintbh I cannot believe that such different information is coming from the admissions office. I literally just called and the female told me that boxes continue to be sent until February 1. She specifically said the boxes are being sent out on a “rolling basis”
So regardless of USPS mail, you will find out the status this Friday morning, right?
I will also call USC to see if they give me the same response. Should I call office of admission or office of financial aid?
@SCMHAALUM my daughter got her scholarships a few days after the acceptance package in late March. They were posted to the portal and my daughter always got an email on the morning when the portal was updated. As far as I’m aware, all her Thornton friends got their scholarships around that time.
They don’t stagger them. Really. Ever.
@gdf16ff are you going to call? Call admissions not financial aid.
@CADREAMIN What will we find out Friday morning?
No mail for me. Not looking hopeful as a girl from my school has already been accepted. Very weird how nobody is on the same page @thewait123 my counselor said “ummmm, yes” so I mean take that for what it’s worth
@ihopeigetintbh How do you know a girl from your school got accepted? Do you mean ED?
She got the merit package today @thewait123
The staff at admissions must dread weeks like this lol. Patience. You cannot control the decision or the US Mail… but one way or the other, you will learn by Friday. I understand it is hard, as we went through it twice. But we all learn… eventually via email and portal update.
