USC Class of 2022

@sekere62 The agenda we have starts as early as 10am on day one. Welcome presentation starts at 2:30.

@kevbostic Best to ask the school to see since housing priority is on the line, and because an NMF that is also Presidential merit scholar is different than just an NMF who is not a Presidential scholar, for different things. Also, McCarthy opened up spaces in summer.

Ya verify daily schedule for Explore, when you google it, the schedule for the hosts of the event comes up, but it is not that obvious if just quickly looking at it, so get it off of you.usc.edu
It would certainly start in the morning.

@sekere62 my D was invited to attend a coffee that starts at 9am on the first day so she and I will fly out the night before. I believe it ends at 1:00 on the second day but not entirely sure. I need to verify that before booking our flights.

@CADREAMIN – according to the following link NMS kids get Presidential Scholarships:

https://ahf.usc.edu/merit-scholars/merit-scholarships/

So, they would be eligible for McCarthy.

My bad, cool, thanks for clarifying @droppedit!

They always put them together in counts then just last year they separated the figures, thought there may have been something behind that. Apparently not! Maybe too many questions on how many of each which I knew many many had asked.

When is the deadline to declare USC as your first choice for the presidential, if you are NMF…

May 1

Thanks @gameset and @kevbostic for sharing your experiences.
@droppedit thanks for finding the page that says as much -
NMF == Presidential

I’ll put down deposit for housing.

Everyone that has a thought of going to USC should put down app fee when you are able for housing. Gets your place in line.

@Caliban – it’s confusing.

Unfortunately, we aren’t able to put down a housing deposit now because D18 didn’t get a white box last week. Very disappointing given that USC is her favorite, by a large margin (and her stats, ECs, etc are very high for USC). We’re activating her backup plans in case there’s more disappointing news from USC in March.

@beauchamp I deeply feel you. My D went to college last year. She had 4.0/4.6 GPA, 2360SAT, 35ACT, full scores on subJect tests, NMF, ranked #2 in her class of 400 students and full IB student. Concertmaster and soloist, numerous awards in music, volunteered and interned at hospitals, twice on National Synchronized Swimming Team. She didn’t get into any of the schools that she applied except her two safeties. I was so confused and didn’t know what we had done wrong. She’s a freshman at University of Washington now and double majoring in Pre Med and Violin Performance. She’s determined to get into medical schools and it does show since she has the highest grades in all of the classes that she took last quarter.

Thank you for all who contribute and it has helped me so much! I got the white box on Thursday and got accepted in wbb, but there is nothing about scholarship status. Does that mean I don’t get scholarship or I automatically become a dean’s scholar?

@bluehurricane
What does it say on the portal? Did you get an email saying you didn’t get a scholarship?

anyone know the typical decision release dates and times from previous years? Thank you

@DDHH2017
My portal doesn’t mention anything about scholarship and I haven’t got an email.

@bluehurricane Look in the box at the second page behind the glowing letter of acceptance. At the bottom of the page, in the last section, there is a scholarship status section. It states what scholarship you are being considered for.

It is a bit hidden in all the stuff they send, but that is where we found it for DD.

@droppedit sorry to hear that. Hope you get better news in March.

I am looking at COA for USC, and even after Presidential/NMF it isn’t exactly cheap (~$12K/year more than UCLA in-state) :frowning:

@bluehurricane In addition to note at bottom of page. The explore USC brochure will also have the scholarship you are considered for at the bottom. I have seen the Presidential one and its printed at the bottom of the brochure. Presumably because dates for exploreUSC are different for different scholarships.

Nevermind just saw @CADREAMIN say it isn’t visible on the other thread.
