@CADREAMIN so even with usps tracking enabled (where we get to see mail beforehand), we won’t be able to see if the package is coming?
@ohnocollege123 As far as I’ve heard, no.
It’s never worked in the past, but who knows what kind of technology has come up in the past year.
So far, the technology is there, but for packages the sender is the one that has to enable tracking. USC does not enable tracking so you shouldn’t be able to see it under your USPS mail or packages section.
Tracking is a way the postal service makes money, they aren’t just scanning the packages for free, somebody pays them to do it. USC does not want it tracked, so does not pay.
If this ever changes, it pretty much defeats the mailbox surprise, so who knows, maybe USC will rethink it’s process. Part of this old-school way is the excitement of it all. USPS Informed delivery screws that up. Might as well get it over a portal update if gonna find it on USPS. At least USC could jazz up a portal delivery (like Cal Poly and their fun video), USPS informed delivery is too dull a way to get such great news.
No way they could come today, yesterday was a mail holiday. When the first one arrives and is reported here, this sight will light up like crazy - you will all know and won’t have to ask.
@CADREAMIN What do you make of the fact we haven’t heard anything yet today? Do you think it’ll be tomorrow? I remember you posting that normally someone sees the trucks or leaks it, but nothing yet today? Thanks.
well its definitely tomorrow then. socal should have It by now if it was today
Didn’t expect anything today at all. In the past I would make the call that they went out today, BUT, this is the first time they are being sent during the week that the MLK holiday Monday fell into. So too hard to call if they went out today or going out tomorrow. But we will know by early afternoon (sometimes as early as 10am ) and always by 1:30 if they start arriving that they went out today (so not long regardless). For the sake of the nerves of these kids, it can be better not to know exactly - they may have a big test or something they should be focusing on and this is soooo distracting.
Well last year the first reply was not until the day after they were sent, even for SoCal as I recall. I could be wrong.
People in LA area start receiving the acceptance/merit boxes the day after they are sent, many in the country including major metro areas get it the second day. The rest (aside from delays and internationals) get it the third day, but by then the portals have updated just after midnight that same day.
Well, whether they’ve been sent or not, there are some cute “Class of 2023” and “I got accepted” gifs on instagram stories for those who hear back in the next couple days-- gifs that were not there just a few days ago
@een222 that’s such an awesome insight! Hopefully that means they were sent today ? Clever thinking!
I first noticed a couple of gifs when I was on campus on Sunday, but they’ve added a significant amount since then
@een222 Well, regardless, I wish you nothing but good vibes your way! Best of luck, you got this!!! hopefully we can both be class of 2023!!!
Where are the gifs? I follow usc admissions. See nothing. Thanks @een222
@hcmom65 You don’t have to follow USC’s instagram in order to see them, you find them by searching ‘USC’ when posting a photo to your personal instagram story
Oh thank you! I thought you meant it was a part of their insta story. Thank you!
whew. If I don’t see something big in my milbox tomorrow coming back from school, boy will I be disappointed.
so they get shipped today?
I don’t think anyone knows for sure yet if they got shipped today. My guess is that they didn’t, because someone would have probably leaked it by now if they were sent. But who knows?..
Portal hasn’t changed yet. Assuming it hasn’t been sent out yet.
My son was admitted for the Fall of 2017 and his letter is dated January 23. I don’t know if last year they updated the portal when the packages shipped but in 2017 when he received his package I checked and nothing was posted so I thought it was just more marketing materials. It was a great surprise when he opened it and it was the acceptance plus the scholarship! Good luck to all!
