USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

@collegemom111111 @cadreamin answered exactly as I would. SCA, Engineering and Business are known to be highly competitive… plus likely those requiring an audition element… the competitive BFAs in dance, acting, music, etc.

@een222 The merits are disbursed among USC’s various Schools, but I do not know the exact formula or if every major is included, etc. Doubtful. But they are trying to make it fair.

@AggieMom68 Other than for the handful who get in with a full ride via being matched as QuestBridge Finalists in December, USC does not technically have an early action or early decision offering. Only the 1200 or so moving forward via the merit process will know that they are in during January. All other decisions are held over until late March.

Please also keep in mind that USPS Priority Mail (which is supposed to deliver domestically in the U.S. in 1-3 days, depending on the delivery zone) comes with no firm guarantee. They do fail to reach those milestones on occasion. Some online have suggested that they fail as much as 5% of the time. And when mailing 60K+ packages… that could equal a significant # of delayed deliveries.

My younger daughter experienced that for herself in March of 2017… when her “white box” finally arrived after the portal had updated. So… if possible… wait to see it in writing online the results before coming to any final conclusions… either in January or March.

Good luck…

My '17 D used USPS Delivery Notice and did get a notice when the box was shipped. Since we are east coast it did take 3 days I think to get it.

Good luck everybody! It was this time last year I was stressed like all of you. I used to read cc like it was the Bible. No matter what happens, fight on!

@aggiemom68 Portal doesn’t update until just after the third midnight after mail date. They want the majority to get it in the mail, same with regular decision.

If this helps, my daughter’s letter was dated 1/23 and she received the box on the 25th and we are from jersey. She’s class of ‘22

My D received her box last year on the 25th. We are in NorCal. She loves USC and now works in admissions training to be a tour guide!

@marcie123 If your D works in admissions, does she know if the boxes for this year were mailed yesterday?

I asked her a couple of days ago if she knew anything. She said no that they haven’t said anything to the new hires. She works this afternoon so I’ll ask her later. That is if no one has received anything by then.

The first of us SoCal guys are heading back from school now. Some of my friends are probably already home, so keep your ears open.

Although, I’m not sure when my mail arrives, I don’t check often. I may not be the most reliable source

seems unusually quiet

I live in SoCal and I didn’t get anything in the mail. I’m not saying I would get a scholarship but just as perspective I didn’t receive anything. Maybe they still haven’t been sent?

We don’t know for sure that they sent it out yesterday, so there’s still a chance it could come tomorrow or friday

Pretty safe to say we are now waiting for tomorrow, there would be a post by now. Last year’s first post came in at 1:24pm, so it’s in the range, but it seems too eerily quiet as mentioned above.

I’m in SoCal and just checked the mail. NOTHING from USC. Hopefully tomorrow!

I just got a white box…from Amazon!

I am from Maryland. I called a couple days ago and I think a lady slipped the tea that they were being sent today lol. Maybe she was right? Maybe she was wrong? I’ll let you all know if I get anything haha

md here too! hopefully they’ll come soon i am super nervous lol

My money would be on shipped today with arrival tomorrow. It was mentioned earlier that the MLK holiday made Tuesday less likely. In the last three years of Tuesday shipping, MLK was the week prior, so it wouldn’t have impacted like it could this week.

If they don’t start arriving tomorrow, they are becoming torture experts.
