@Sk0975 thank you so much for your post! It makes me feel so much better about my lower stats compared to other scholarship candidates. Do you recommend that I apply for housing ASAP? Or should I go to Explore first and get to see them in person? Also, which dorms are the best in your opinion? I’m leaning towards McCarthy, Pardee, and Birnkrant.
I would just do it to land your egg in the basket as soon as possible. From what I understand, USC significantly over enrolled last year and it caused a huge headache for housing for many. Many did not get the housing they wanted but I wouldn’t be surprised if you got some type of priority because of your early admission.
As for the type of housing, McCarthy is great because it’s in the Village and it’s really nice. But it’s really up to you. Depending on how big of a factor price is for you and what you are looking for in your first year dorm experience, different options will have different amounts of appeals to you. I for one did not see the options in person because I didn’t think I needed to but I understand if you feel you need to. That part is your call.
Personally I am in McClintock Apartments (Across the street from the village and McCarthy) and I love it. It’s a newly renovated apartment building. Somewhat pricey but when you factor in that you can buy the partial meal plan (600 per semester instead of 3,000+ for the full one) you can actually save money depending on your eating habits outside of your meals in the dining hall since the partial meal plan includes only 40 meals and $150 dining dollars.
Hope this helped. If you have other questions let me know.
@catova ^^^
hi everyone Does anyone know about how many applicants USC admits for Marshall??
@catova it’s a good idea to register for housing. You don’t have to finalize your choices or roommates until around May 1, but your priority is determined by when you sign up. Being a scholarship admit basically gets you eligible for McCarthy and your first choice.
@TreeAlum @Sk0975 thanks so much for the advice! Just registered. I didn’t even know that apartments were available to freshmen, I’ll make sure to check those out.
Hi! I’ve been looking at the McCarthy Honors College floor plan options as an admitted scholarship finalist, and can’t seem to figure out what exactly the 3PDBLE plan looks like. It is not included in the diagrams they show, but I am potentially interested in selecting that one. Does anyone know what it looks like and what the 3 stands for? Is it possibly the room with a double and single included?
That is a single and double. Single person pays more.
Are there international folks from mainland China applying? What are your stats?
@kairosforever I’m not sure but for the Class of 2022, the acceptance rate for Marshall specifically was close to 10%.
@amalazian The designation is for a 3 person suite, specifically for the double. The room size is about 15 x 15 feet. 2 beds with mattresses, 2 desks, and 2 desk cabinets are included. Under the beds are 4 drawers and 2 open space drawers. There is open closet space set aside for hanging clothes/suits/etc.
Something from USC admissions and financial aid office, a larger than normal envelope, arrived in Informed Delivery today, addressed to my parents. I assume since I am not the addressee that it’s regarding financial aid but I’ve turned in all my documents (and well before the deadline). Any idea what this could be?
It’s a “guide to financial aid” brochure…
Hi everyone. Does anyone know how many students are accepted into Annenberg?
@julsaguaro My son also received mail from admissions and financial aid, and it’s “Undergraduate Honors Programs” brochure.
Since the Deans Scholarships were not included in the January scholarship round are applicants who submitted after Dec 1, eligible for it in March or only those who met the deadline?
Daughter is national merit finalist and has the Presidential scholarship interview scheduled as well. I see that the 2 don’t stack up. What will be the outcome during the interview?
She has a chance to get bumped up to Trustee but nothing to lose since she is guaranteed half with the NMF. Congrats, that’s a great position to be in!
Thanks. Hoping for the best.
Hi @AggieMom68, I remember you from the WBB specific thread. 2 things: 1. Be careful, I don’t believe the USC NMF scholarship would apply for the 2 WBB years at HKUST and Bocconi U, please confirm with USC before you decide to not attend interview weekend. I’d highly recommend attending the scholarship interview to try and secure the Presidential level WBB scholarship that transfers to all overseas schools. 2. I also don’t believe a bump up to Trustee is possible for WBB admits, max would be Presidential, again that could be confirmed with USC.
Or, alternatively since you already have admittance to USC and if you aren’t interested in WBB, just drop the program and use the NMF 1/2 tuition scholarship for 4 years at USC Marshall.
Thanks for this tip. We are going for the interview and hoping for the best. Did not know about the NMF not carrying over to HK and Italy. Will definitely check with them on the WBB. Thank you.
