@19parent the SAT and ACT averages were for the students in the room. The scholarship finalists attending that week. The Director said they expect to finalize admission decisions in the coming weeks. However, they are looking to admit a total of 7,000 students and expect the acceptance rate for class of 2023 to be about 11%
@Mkate75 So glad to hear! And Congrats to your daughter.
Based on last yearās timing when should we expect to start hearing about admission decisions?
March 20th-22nd
So a little less than one month left??? ?
I have a pretty specific question about USC admissions and changing the first choice major that was put on the application. DS is questioning what he put on his application since we didnāt know much about how admissions worked (heās our first to go to college and didnāt get any specific support from the HS counselor) and heās really afraid it will hurt his chances of acceptance. Who would be the best person for him to reach out to at USC? He applied with his first choice to Thornton and second choice at Dornsife, but he really wants to double major. Feel free to PM me if anyone wants more info or has any specific suggestions theyād rather not put here. Thank you!
He should reach out to his regional counselor first. Use this link to find your counselor.

If he is double majoring but he will still be in either one of those schools, he should be completely fine, but the regional counselor will be able to guide you on what to do.
I PMād you.
Iām from NY and toured USC last week just bc itās the first time we had a chance to get out to LA and I came home to find a handwritten thank you note from my tour guide in the mail. Is this something done for everyone? Couldnāt find too much info on this but it was definitely a nice touch.
@sail23 Yes
@sail23 We also got a handwritten note from our tour guide. They must direct them to do that. It was a nice touch and I might add that itās the only school we toured that did that.
i would like to contact my admission counselor but he has no profile for USC??!!
@Ymochi You could call the admissions office and ask for their email or phone number if you know their name.
@reinawrites Hi! I received the same email last Friday, but Iāve even submitted my midyear on Jan 18 and my portal shows USC has received it too. Anyway, I found in the email that āIt is important that you use either the online or postal process noted above, even if you believe your grades have already been sent to us.ā So I sent it again through my portal and replied an email to USC. Donāt know the meaning behind it.
@AlexGip Yeah! Idk. In my case, USC hadnāt received mine yet. But the informed posters on this site said itās just a reminder to send midyears, and I trust them, so think weāre fine! ā¦ as fine as we can be anyways haha ā¦ Good luck!
@reinawrites Hahaha hope so. And hope we can both get into USC!
How do we send mid years? Do we just upload pdf of report card through the portal or do we have to have guidance counselor submit?
@workinggirl25 your school counsellor has to submit your midterm report. as far as I know, they do not accept pdfs uploaded by a student as they require the transcript to be formal and unaltered.
Any estimate on when decisions will be released this year?
At an info session they said April 1st. Last yearās threads shows that acceptance packages went out on March 22nd with uploads on portals on Mar 25th.
