USC Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

It’ll say that the thread is in slow mode and that we can’t respond to messages in succession fast.

I’m not seeing any message like that

:man_shrugging: i guess we’re fine now

And my replies are instantly posted

We are not in slow mode at the moment. I briefly put the thread into slow mode while I cleaned it up. Once done, I reverted to normal. When in slow mode, there is a message at the bottom of the thread indicating as much.

Well not necessarily. To be selected for a major, the school has to admit you. But to be accepted to USC, the overall admissions office also has to say yes.

I am quite sure… and especially for some creative and performance majors… that a school might want some applicants that USC is not all that willing to admit. They likely can fight for a few applicants they deem special, and win certain battles, but not all.

But it is also more common for it to be the other way around. USC can still admit you Undeclared if your first and second choice majors both fail to admit you.

Generally speaking though, you are still competing against the entre applicant pool. Applicants cannot just apply for a major that sees very few applicants and sneak in.

So you’re saying that our AO’s make the first call for admit/deny → then major says their decision and if it conflicts with the admission office, they fight a bit.

wait, huh? i applied to SDA and completed my callback on 2/21 for the bfa acting major, can someone let me know if this is true? will i not get and offer/rejection today, or will i still get an offer, but just with my major pending? please let me know! <3

well I don’t think my AO liked me very much from the few interactions I’ve had with him so prolly a rejection

One of the best posts yet. Thank you.

Some AOs are nicer than others, that’s just a people thing. I don’t think that’ll do much to your review :man_shrugging: .

I didn’t know my AO would be the one reviewing my app until January and at that point I had already sent him emails about questions regarding the school and awards and app stuff lol. It’ll be alright.

My AO didn’t respond to any of my emails about why I was classified as an international student. Kind of a bruh moment ngl. Ah well. Time to look at how to transfer from UC Davis

R u not an international student? Lol what

Generally speaking… yes. But I also doubt that it is a single AOs decision. USC Admissions likely has a few readers for each admitted applicant. The reviews could likely be happening simultaneously as well… between USC and the Schools admissions teams… with them comparing notes/decisions later. It is likely very common with the most competitive majors… where the Schools say we are out of room and this applicant does not rank as high as others… but where USC still thinks that applicant should be admitted. If both majors pass, USC is then likely to admit the applicant Undeclared. But let’s say you are a film production prodigy with horrible stats, SCA may have to convince USC overall to still let in someone that they desperately want. I suspect that schools like SCA or SDA win many such battles… but not all.

you’re welcome

Yes, this is true.

2pm est and nothing sadly, assuming the earliest will be 3pm est cause they said they will start releasing in the afternoon so 12 but even then they said late so maybe even till 3pm

idk if this makes any difference in the outcome of my decision, nor do i have the capacity to worry about it now, but i’ve never talked to my admission officer. i know who he is, and when he went live with the @uscadmission on instagram, i asked all the questions i wanted to, but i’ve never interacted with him one on one. oh well, haha

I suspect things will start rolling in around 60 minutes… 12 pm PST

Doubt it makes a difference. Maybe it does by making a small impression but the application itself is the real “meat and potatoes” of the review.
