In approximately one paragraph - Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC. Please feel free to address your first- and second-choice major selections. MAXIMUM 3500 characters.

3500 chars is about 500 words. how does one use 3500 chars in one paragraph?

If you are answering prompts by counting characters, then you are going about it the wrong way. Answer the prompt by answering the prompt. Then go back and make cuts - there are ALWAYS things that need to be removed. NEVER add words to increase your word/character count. Never. You should always be trying to make your writing more concise and clear, not mucking it up with unnecessary additions.

The direction from USC is to answer the prompt in approximately one paragraph. This means your answer should be short, but they allow more characters than would typically be in a paragraph to allow individuals to answer in the way they feel best answers the prompt. If you find that you need two paragraphs to answer the prompt, use two paragraphs. If you find that one concise sentence fully answers the prompt, even better.

Stop counting characters and consider content.

Thx for your reply. I am not letting the char count dictate what i write. I am just trying to make sure that I answer the prompt - without violating the rules. Its just that i found the rules confusing.
