USC essay topics

Hello! I would like to get some feedback on some essay topics I have brainstormed:
1. USC’s speaker series “What Matters to Me and Why” asks faculty and staff to reflect on their values, beliefs, and motivations. Presenters talk about choices they have made, difficulties encountered, and commitments solidified. Write an essay about an event or experience that helped you learn what is important to you and why it is important.
In this prompt, I am writing about a situation where I was completely isolated in the wilderness with no support and materialistic items. The main purpose of the essay is to discuss that while friends and family are an important aspect in our lives, being able to make decisions and hardships individually is what's most important as we grow as individuals. We can't fully depend on others for the rest of our lives.

2.“Visions and Voices” is a university-wide arts and humanities initiative that seeks to transform students’ perspectives through presentations and performances by top artists, writers, and scholars. Tell us about a creative project, performance or other work of yours and how it reflects your vision or voice.
As a hobby, I took photos and edited them to make it look better . What I did not notice in the beginning was that by editing these ordinary photos, I was able to look at the photos in another way that I would have never seen in the non-edited photos.

These are just brainstorming ideas. Please critique them! It would be wonderful if USC-admitted students that wrote similar essays give advice!
Thank you!

Uh bump???

Off hand, the first one about the wilderness sounds more promising, but I’ve seen students work miracles with any topic. which is easier to write and captures the you in you best?

Thank you! And yes, I would have done a topic about swimming, but I really didnt see how to tie swimming and how it showed me what was important.
