USC(Fall) vs Cal (Spring)

I know there are probably tons of threads similar to this one, but I just thought it would be easier to state my situation and get opinions rather than search through threads from years ago and accumulate opinions.

I was admitted into USC Marshall for Business administration for Fall 2010, but I received very little financial aid from them. All in all, my parents and I have to find a way to pay $40,000 through loans and such. I am also not very familiar with the social life at USC.

I was also admitted into Cal under the Pre-business major for Spring 2011. The financial aid package from them was much more generous, we basically only have to pay the EFC (around $5000). My concern is that I won't be able to experience a regular Freshman year because I am a Spring admit. I am on the FPF waitlist, but the chances of actually getting into the program are slim apparently. I'm also concerned that I would not be able to catch up after being a semester behind everyone else.

I only have a few days to decide and I really don't know what to do.

You can take courses anywhere that are acceptable for credit transfers, not waste a semester just waiting, and then you are at exactly the same unit count as your peers come Spring.

Look at [Welcome to ASSIST](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST) to check out those schools in your area that have classes preapproved to transfer credit. Figure out what you might have taken while at FPF, sign up at the local school instead, and bring the transcript when you start this Spring.

Oh, and . . . GO BEARS

Berkeley, for sure.

But what about the whole freshman experience? Would i be missing out?

I’m basically in the exact same situation as u afei08 lol
does anyone know if taking cc courses will hurt your admission to Haas because they aren’t actually at UCB?
Basically I want to find out if spring admits are considered equally as fall admits when applying to Haas even though classes are technically “easier” at a cc for one semester

Take UGBA10 and Stats in Berkeley, the rest like math/english/breadth courses don’t matter.

Maybe go to community college in Berkeley for fall so you can still go on campus and join activities, yet still be learning?

My friend is graduating this semester from Haas, and she was a spring admit. She spent the semester between high school and Cal taking some general breadth requirement classes at a community college to get them out of the way. She later moved to the dorms, made friends, and doesn’t feel like she missed out on anything.

Go to Cal. This is coming from someone whose dream school was USC for 6 years but chose Cal in the end. No regrets whatsoever.

you should go to cal
