Hello! I applied for USC Housing on March 6 when it opened up for everyone. I listed my first three at McCarthy. How often do people get their first room choice? I was planning on going random with roommates but am nervous about who I am going to be paired with. Does anyone have any experiences with random roommates and how did it turn out for you?
The majority of people go random and report that USC does a really good job of matching people from the profile you filled out.
@heyitsme Sorry, McCarthy chance very slim to zero for Freshman except those that qualified via scholarship. Even for them it is not guaranteed. Hopefully you like your later choices - there’s not a bad place to live at USC, truly!
The good news is they do excellent matching and as mentioned, the majority go random.
I applied at the end of the day on the day it opened and got my first choice (McCarthy room). I also went random and absolutely LOVED my roommate, definitely a friend for life. I only know of a few horror stories but most people who went random had a great experience!
